When I arrived over 20 minutes after ordering, my pizza was not ready. When the counter lady asked, the chef said yea it's here and pulls out an all cheese pizza that looks completely cooked. He then takes it to the back where I now assume he added the veg to half and then put back in the oven after asking if i wanted them cooked. I asked if I should come back later since they didn't seem to have the order correct. At this time I am irritated because there was a 3% debit credit charge that the lady that took my order didn't advise me of or I would have brought cash and now I've paid $19.26 already and I am worried about the value of the product I'll be getting. I get the pizza shortly after, open at first glance it looks okay, much more piled on than I would like but figured I'd pick it off. Went home (across the street) and the pizza is so watery from the excessive massive amounts of mushrooms and greens peppers stacked on the pizza and every bite taste like char. You can't even taste cheese sauce or anything. I have never eaten at this restaurant so I call to inquire if this is their normal product. I do not think it is and assume they devalued my business and choose not to remake the pizza made in error cooked without the veg. Hell I would have rather taken the all cheese. To my surprise when I called to speak to the chef he assured me that the bottom is always charred to this extent and that the veg made the pizza soggy in the 1 minute commute and stands behind this product as being the representation of what I can expect from his restaurant. $20 may not be a lot of money to some but it is to me and to know I chose to waste it here and that they cared so little as to not even offer to remake the pizza. Very disappointed especially since this is close to home. I let him know this as well and he just chuckled and was like okay.

A common, American style Italian bistro with the same menu you typically find at this sort of establishment. You'll need to make reservations over the phone if going during busy times. TLDR: If you like Carbonara, this is a solid choice. The best in RVA for me so far. But the rest of the food we had is rather dull, but at least it's lower in price for this part of town. Drinks: Nothing special here. Normal selections with little to no craft beers or micro brews. Mixed drinks are OK but nothing you get excited about. Food: The Carbonara was suuuuper good. Tons of cheeses, bacon and flavor. Loved it. White pizza, was basically just cheesy bread that's slightly burnt. Very disappointing. The other pasta dishes didn't seem to be particularly amazing. But no one said they were offended by it. Atmosphere: Kind of lacking here. Just a mediocre bar/Italian eatery. Fairly loud, full of pretentious Short Pumpers. Staff: Mixed bag. Our server was absent a fair amount of time. Others leaned in to help. But not super happy with it.

Terrible Italian restaurant. We walk in and get seated right away, but then the waiter goes and talks to the regulars. After we order, the waiter brings bread to the table, which was not good. One was a blah focaccia bread and the other was a rock hard bread. After 30 minutes, the food came. The pasta primavera was disgusting. The pasta was definitely not fresh and came from a box. The sauce was a sour, watery mixture that tasted like soured milk. The vegetables consisted of mushy mushrooms, peppers, onions, and zucchini. The sauce rolled off the pasta because it was so watery. The person I was with got the steak sandwich and he liked it, but the roll is clearly burnt. The fries are generic food service quality. Nothing was amazing about the restaurant. Two stars is because it was edible, but I will not be back.

The food is ok. Not great. But the reason I won’t be back is the disproportionate service received which depends on who you are.

I guess how good of service you get depends if you’re 1) friends taking pictures with the waitress (probably didn’t think I saw that!) and a larger party racking up a big bill/presumed big tip, versus 2) parties of 1-2 alone where you feel like you’re just annoying them by being there in their way.

I was seated right away and waitress took my order right away (although not friendly at all). My food actually came very quickly which was surprising. They seemed at first like they might be on top of stuff and good service.

Then, I guess that’s when she decided I’m not worth a minute more of her time after dropping off my food (without any friendly word at all, either). She had plenty of time to go get chatty with someone she knew who was dining in, take a picture with them, take a picture of a group at another table for them, etc. but 0 seconds for me after dropping off the food.

I tried and tried to flag/waive her down multiple times to get a refill as she walked directly past me repeatedly checking back with other tables to see if they needed refills etc. After 10 minutes (during which, as mentioned, waitress was present walking right past me but not stopping for me for a second) of not being able to continue to eat my food due to lack of beverage refill and it getting cold, I got up to get my own. She said “oh, I appreciate it” as if to imply “I don’t have time to go check on you even ONCE so I appreciate you figuring that out and coming up here instead”- again, not said, but her demeanor and response implies that to me.

When I had to try for another refill, she’s like “oh, another” in a tone like as if to act like I’m way too much trouble for having to flag her down for only 2 refills, nothing else. She made countless trips to the other tables. Some people need more beverage than others to eat their food! I was never offered a box for my food either, and I’m sure asking would be too much work too.

Like I said, if you’re a larger party or buddies/regulars with the staff, you’ll have a better experience but if you’re 1-2 people, probably not. Needless to say, my tip reflected the lack of service received and that makes a record low. 2 days prior, we left a very HIGH tip at a wonderful restaurant in the area for great service...

PSA ❗️❗️❗️

FB family and friends, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT go to Chianti’s Italian Restaurant located at 1304 Gaskins Rd Richmond, Virginia 23238!!!!!

My husband and I were recommended to go here because they supposedly have the best pizza around...So tonight I called to Chianti’s to place an order. I specifically asked the young man who answered the phone if the 12” pizza there a is the size of a medium pizza. This gentleman assured me that it was, so I decided to go ahead and place my order. 20 mins go by and I arrived and paid for my pizza. It wasn’t until I began walking out the restaurant that I realized my pizza was the size of a personal pan pizza and not what I was expecting. I go back into the restaurant and ask the manager Frank if he is sure that this a medium pizza and he stated yes. I informed the manager that my husband and I would no longer want the pizza after calling my husband and telling him what I see because it was not what I was told. That is when the manager decided to get an attitude and became rude and threw my money on the counter and told me in these exact words “to never come there again.” All because I wanted a refund. It wasn’t until my husband arrived and approached the manager that he wanted to change his tune! He even went to the extent to tell my husband that he disrespected me because he was upset that he had to throw the pizza away! I have NEVER experienced such HORRIBLE AND DEGRADING customer service like I did tonight! This was simply an act of racism and hate!!!! This situation has reminded me that no matter how proper I talk, how educated and successful I am and how respectful and polite I am, I will be treated like I’m nothing because of the color of my skin!! So I say this to you all, save your money and go somewhere else where you and your money are valued!!! If I could give them a ZERO rating...
