Visited 1/5/19 about 8 pm. Purchased the fried shrimp. I was told I would get 18 shrimp. For $6.99 it seemed like a good deal.
However to my disappointment, I actually receive 16 shrimps and they were so small. If you can imagine the smallest takeout container that's what my shrimp came in. I don't even think it made 3/4 of a cup.
I was so disappointed and felt that I had completely wasted my money. It was one of the most unsatisfying eating experiences. And when you enter the place there are no pictures of what their food looks like. What they have in their refrigerator display looks very unappetizing. So in comparison to where I usually go which is Southern Seafood Market about three to five miles down the road on Lawrenceville Highway David's crab house is very disappointing.
I miss the seafood place that used to be there before David Crabs house took over. At least I felt I was getting my money's worth. And I felt I was getting good quality Seafood.
So I suggest don't waste your time with David's Crab House. Drive the few extra minutes, 5 minutes at most towards North Dekalb Mall and along the way you're fine Southern Seafood Market about a block away from CVS and Bruster's. Keep in mind they close around 6 or 7 so don't wait till the last moment cuz they tend to close earlier.
At least when I go to Southern Seafood Market I'm feeling like I'm getting more than my money's worth. The steam shrimp and snow crabs are very delicious and very filling. For what I paid at David's Crab House, I could get a pound of Steamed and deveined shrimp for about $7.99 and feel fulfilled at...
Read moreOver a year ago, my wife and I were searching for a seafood place, as we love to eat crab legs. We found David’s and let me say that the owner then (can’t remember his name/unless it was David lol), had an amazing take out seafood. We got garlic crab legs, seafood boil which included shrimp, corn, sausage and potatoes. Their large meal was big enough for my wife n I let me say plenty! We would order takeout at least once a month. Then we skipped two to three months and when I went back, new management had taken over (Asian woman). I asked where the other owner was, I was told he went back to Savannah. We ordered and the amount of food was cut in half of our normal. When she gave me the crab legs, cold as if taken right out of fridge. I asked them to reheat them, but by time I got it home (5 mins), they were cold and rubbery. For a large order, it wasn’t enough for even my wife. 2 corn cobs, maybe 10 shrimps, couple potatoes. I was fuming! I immediately called manager, all she could say oh, the other worker didn’t give me enough and to come back. I told her I had just settled down to eat and wasn’t making another trip for their mistake. Merely, I had to vent at her and her business. Then she told me that I can come back next time and get free order. I never went back and it’s been about six months now. It used to be the best around town, but not anymore. Take heed when you read, it’s here...
Read moreI saw 4.2 stars and went to the “restaurant” based off of that without actually reading the reviews. First off, the lady at the front was so rude. She didn’t say hardly anything and instead of telling me my food was ready (I was sitting with my back to her while I was waiting) she sets it on the counter and walks off. I asked her was the food hot as in fresh because I saw it was precooked, and she said yes but I get home (exactly 3 minutes away) and realize I basically just paid $40 for leftovers. The “crab rice” is fried rice with two strands of crab meat but at least it was hot as if they had just cooked it. I NEVER leave reviews but I can say I’ve also never paid $40 for leftovers before either so I guess there is a first time for everything. I also saw them putting pounds of shrimp in a storage container (I came in around 8:30pm, they were closing soon) so I’m 1000% sure they were packing it up to resale tomorrow. I forgot to check the restaurant score but I won’t be back so it doesn’t matter. I’m pretty sure DHEC will have a field day with them on their next...
