There are lots of insightful and well deserved positive reviews on this place already, so I'll just touch on a few things that stood out.
The atmosphere: a well deserved 5 stars. The decor involves plenty of glowing crabs and stuff, but the cat-robot waiters that bring your food are unique in Tucson as far as I've seen. My 4-year-old loved them. Plus you can see the wait staff look ever-so-slightly annoyed at having to wait for them to round corners. I think that's just delightful.
The food: It's good! At least, Tucson seafood good! You can choose your spice level for the crab boils on any seasonings which is great.
Service: Robots bring your food, and it's pretty cool. Try to figure out how they know where they're at in the restaurant; you can tell if you're observant. Also, plenty of very attentive staff which is something a lot of restaurants skimp on.
Price: Surprisingly reasonable. We were looking at $150 for a big meal for 3.5 people, and that included drinks, crab, and lobster tails. In this day and age I was expecting at least 50% more.
Final thoughts: The lobster was a little overcooked and our meal initially came with the wrong spice level, but I'm going to let that slide because of how new the restaurant is and because they remedied the issue immediately. That's why you staff your restaurant properly instead of trying to skimp on service to save money like a lot of other places do. This place doesn't skimp, and that's why even our ancient grandmother who complains about...
Read moreI am SO Very disappointed at what was supposed to be a great experience at a new, highly rated establishment. If you have been to or are from Louisana, DO NOT COME HERE. You will cry and want to go back. 100% Guaranteed. I almost did. Ordered the Calamari to start. The calamari rings were tough and rubbery, the fries stole the show and they were mediocre, at best. We also ordered a combo with atomic sauce, after asking our server her suggestion for flavor and spice. The boil looks flavorful but do not let your eyes fool you. The crawfish disintegrated in your mouth and all you taste is spice with a hint of garlic. After speaking with the manager, he defended his knowledge and background of Louisiana cooking because his dad is from there... and then confidently proclaimed that they don't use any salt in their boils (you know, the main BASIC component needed to bring out flavor in spices and food in general). When offered salt, we were served tiny salt packets. Service was slow and inattentive. We were served better by 2 other servers around us than our own in the midst of a not too busy time. Again, the food was horrible. 2 stars for service because the manager did take care of the inedible boil but after anticipating this meal all week for my wedding anniversary, I will not be back. P.S. Do your research, as I should have. This place is based out of Cali. There is nothing...
Read moreFinally got around to try out this new seafood boil place in Tucson with friends.
Ordered two Combo 1 ($36), and one Combo 2 ($53) for 3 people. Safe to say, this combination is enough for 4 people. The freshness of seafood is not truly there yet, with one of the Combos having shrimps tasting bitter and sour with the heads clearly black in colour.
Had a mixture of Louisiana, Cajun, and Garlic Butter sauce.
The Louisiana, and Cajun sauces were great and paired quite well with the seafood. The sauces could use much lesser oil. The medium and dynamite spice levels were good too. Dynamite has the afterward "kick" in your throat.
I don't recommend the Garlic Butter as it was way too salty for our liking and had to transfer the seafood to a different plate with the Cajun and Louisiana sauce. It turns out that extra salt was added to the garlic and salted butter.
The bags came out with these robots which will bring the boils to your table and your server will open them for you.
Our server Grace was very friendly and inviting and got her recommendations. The Onion Rings ($7) were fantastic and a definite must have appetiser.
Overall quite expensive and it amounted to $50 per person.
There's a promotion to get a free appetizer and dessert but our server did not apply that discount when we got our check. Quite disappointing on that even though it was made known to her...
