Love the idea of having a local hangout in my neighborhood, but wasn't impressed when we came a few years ago. Decided to try again, but sadly our experience was not a good one. We came in a bit of a dead period (3pm). There were a few people at the bar but the tables were all empty - the bartender completely ignored us standing there (10 feet away) wondering whether we should seat ourselves. After a few minutes, a server came out, waved us to a table, and disappeared. All the tables were visibly dirty, so we picked one and wondered what we were getting into. After a few min, the server came back and took our orders for soft drinks. I had to ask her to wipe the table, which she did, another few minutes later, without getting all the crumbs. When she brought the drinks she asked, "oh, are you ordering food?" And the surprised look on her face when I said yes was a red flag, to say the least. The menu is basically sandwiches and burgers, typical bar stuff, so we decided to play it safe and go with burgers. These arrived decently cooked but utterly tasteless. Seriously, they were like the cheapest frozen hamburger patties you can buy. The sides of (frozen) onion rings and fries were fine, which was good because neither of us finished our uninspiring burgers. Oh, did I mention the ketchup and mustard bottles were extremely sticky? Are we starting to understand why the server looked surprised that we wanted to order food? To be fair, nobody else in the place seemed to be eating. They had a daily beer menu, and the drinkers all seemed quite happy. I walk past frequently, and the place seems lively, so clearly it's filling a niche, and maybe after a drink or two a properly cooked discount patty and onion rings hit the spot. Just bring gloves if you plan on touching...
Read morePopped in on the recommendation of a friend who raved about this place. I visited in hopes of enjoying the "World famous Bob Burger", unfortunately despite of the unsubstantiated claims that's it's "famously seasoned", l found mine to be almost devoid of any seasonings at all, it was clearly unimpressive, bordering on bland, so in desperation l buried it in yellow mustard and black pepper. Anyone who can make burger-king look editable shouldn't be serving thier own food. I sent the fries back as soon as they arrived, they were visibly undercooked, when the replacement fries arrived they were naturally overcooked bordering on being burnt. I didn't sense any hostility over the burnt offerings so l don't think it was retaliatory, just an inability to comprehend how to properly run a kitchen and cook fries. The guy sitting next to me laughed at my food odyssey and stated "no one comes here for the food". The beer tender was extremely lame and excessively stuck on herself. She demonstrated that she was exerting a maximum effort just to grace the world with her presence. Outside of controlling access to cold beer, it appeared she as if she really served no useful purpose to the greater good. I felt my presence alone was an annoyance to her, asking her for anything hightened this lack of joy. This appears to be a nice inviting place on the surface, but the food left vast room for improvement and and the nonexistent customer service was dismal at best. My money spends anywhere and when going out l want to be treated, not mistreated. As a first and last time customer, this is not an establishment that l would...
Read moreEvery Saturday night for years the entire night staff from roccos used to meet up here for drinks and karaoke. We even at one time had a beef with Grimaldi pizza before they closed. We had our favorite bartender Travis and he brought in our favorite Grimaldi crew member Ryan... it was a blast staying with them, helping them close down after we tossed money at them. But then Ryan moved away and Travis left when he started a family. Our group was still tight and we still went every weekend. Then covid hit and we avoided it for the year of extreme social distancing. We thought when we got the message from our favorite dj Brad that we were going to pick up where we left off. Even though most of our crew were scattered a bit. The original roccos night shift showed up to celebrate every Saturday once more. But then they took Brad and replaced him with someone else. I'm sure hes nice, but it isn't the same. We don't know why Brad is gone, he was there when we started back up. All we know is that he was replaced. So maybe my beef with the place isn't the new staff, but lack of what we used to have while we were there. We figured there is no way the new staff would want our crew, they aren't really good with who was at the bar first waving money and I order the same drink, but each girl makes it wildly different. So our years here has ended. It was a good run while we had it. And I will always cherish the memories but I miss my good bartenders...
