Old Peking Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Tucson

Updated post: I used to love getting food for the family here. Yesterday was the last time. Got home with my order. One plate was way wrong. Called the restaurant to inform them of the mistake. The young kid who answered was the one who kindly answered (wasn't friendly to begin with, seemed irritated to have to be taking my order). He said if you give me your number you can get that plate next time you order. I stated no because I'd like my original plate, he said OK and I went back for the correct plate. As I walked in he asked me for the wrong plate back. Stating they needed the plate to do the exchange. I said are you kidding me, now I need to go back home to get the plate. He said yes I need the plate to exchange for the correct plate and continued to argue with me. I said I'll be back. As I was walking to my car I was pissed and running it back in my head. I walked back and said why wouldn't you tell me this when I called you. He continued with that's the way it works. I told him I'll bring all your food back and I want my money back. As i was saying that he said i will have to ask. I was on the phone with my husband as this is all happening. He said he'd drive down and bring the food. We live 15 mins away, so I've already wasted so much time with this whole situation. As I'm sitting in the car on the phone with my husband that young kid runs up to my window, I opened it and he said I talked to my manager and he said to give you the food and to wait he'll bring it out. Which more time wasted. Didn't get to eat dinner until after 7p. Now let me ask you this, make it make sense. You told me to give you my number for future purchase with that dish for free yet when I get there now you're telling me you want the wrong dish back. But you didn't want me to bring it back if I wasn't coming back for the correct dish.

Original post: Love the food. Very tasty and...

The service is very fast. We were seated as soon as we walked in. We had the section to ourselves. The waitress took our drink order and returned after a minute or two. We were ready to order by then. We ordered crab puffs and orange chicken and orange beef. She returned with the crab puffs after only about a minute. They were ok. They seems a little stale and didn't have much filling in them. Seemed like they were sitting around for a little while. They were served with warm sweet and sour sauce. After another 5 minutes or so she brought our food out. We were impressed by the quick service. The orange chicken was delicious. The breading was fluffy and light covering the white meat chicken. I easily cut the pieces in half to make eating easier. I had plenty of rice for the amount of chicken served. My fiance got the orange beef. He liked it. The breading was different than the chicken. More like a crispy beef with orange glaze. I only tried a bite of the beef but I liked the chicken better but then again I like chicken better overall anyway. He said he could've used more rice. They did charge a little extra for fried rice instead of steamed rice tha comes with the meal. The only complaint I have is my fiance finished his drink and it was several minutes before the waitress came with refills. I didnt necessarily want a refill but she went ahead and brought the refills to our table. I asked for a to-go cup for mine. I didnt want to waste it, after all. In conclusion, we will try this place again of were in the area. We live about 40 miles away...

Regret last 2 takeout orders have disappointed. Been a loyal customer for years but recently the qualty of ingedients and preparation has suffered so much that at least one item on each of my 2 orders over the past several weeks were inedible Orange beef pieces were too tough to eat..over fried.....usually beef is great quality and delicately prepared- tonight the crab puffs were fried wontons, hardly, if any filling..maybe an 1/8 tsp of it and when there was filling, in 2 out of 6 it was dry and almost inedible..usually filling is plentiful, flavorful and creamy. I called restaurant both times..response on beef item was i could come back for a new one...wasnt an option, why would i want to get back in the car at dinbertime? On crab puffs girl said next time she'd do a complimentary order- appreciated but unsure the product would be better next time. It's great you have enough business to not reopen in dining but its evident ingredient quality and preparation has suffered...for me...In past i could have relied on my order...regret not so much anymore. You have been my go to Chinese ......
