Im very split on what rating to give. It was going to be a golden 5, but I'll get to that in a bit.
Dragoon is tucked away in a somewhat industrial area which seems per usual for breweries in Tucson. The night I went, they had an Indian food truck in the parking lot (Indian food in Tucson!? Sure, why not). While waiting for the food, my big group headed in to get our beers. Someone in the group got a taster of all the beers being offered and it came out to about $32, not too bad. I personally just went with a flight of 4, which you write down on a paper and they bring to you. I must say, all the beers I tried were really good and high quality. And you can even see through a window inside that they take good care of the brewing equipment. We even saw then cleaning as we were there. Now the biggest issue came after we left... Wait, after we left?? Yeah, we left and continued our brew quest over at Nimbus. One of our guys left his card at Dragoon though and didn't notice til we had gotten to our next site. He instantly called them and said that he was coming straight back. By the time we had gotten there, they CUT HIS CREDIT CARD. What? Why? Who does that!? At minimum, you should hold it for a day or two. I just can't wrap my head around their logic of cutting his card. Anyways. Fortunately their beer is hella good and that's their savior for this review.
Dragoon, please train your staff how to handle incidents like that better... I mean you are serving alcohol and people are getting drunk, cards will...
Read moreThe gentleman pouring the beer here, bar tender?, was amazing. Potentially goes by "Stout", that was on his shirt. He was super nice and informative. He paid close attention to what we selected and even remembered when we told him we wrote down the wrong beer on our sheet and brought us a sample at the end of our visit so we didn't miss it. He was patient through my questions and seemed enthusiastic about his job. He was super chill and that voice, dreamy LOL.
In all seriousness, the beer was delicious. I don't usually like IPAs and I tried the Juicy IPA (our whoops pick) and the one that was double-hopped and they were both drinkable. I was shocked! Location was awesome, I love that you can bring in food to eat (saw a bunch of people with stuff the first night and brought Arby's with us our second night). Such a nice set up, the branding is awesome too. Highly recommend giving it a shot, the beer is excellent! If we're ever back in the area this place will be...
Read moreReally good beer. I've had better, but not many. Nice variety and selection, and I love a brewery that isn't entirely made up of IPAs. The atmosphere is nice, and when we visited at an off hour, my one year had a great time running around. Flights are priced by the beer, so you can get anything you want, which was awesome.
I concur with the others - we were so thrown off that they wouldn't fill our growler, but we figured out why. Instead of filling a growler, they take yours and replace it with a new, freshly filled one. Sanitary, yes, but pretty much means you have to be a local to be economical about it. We get it -- but we felt like we were a bit chastised by the staff for bringing our own growler, even though we have yet to find another brewery not accept filling it. Since we're local, no big deal, really, but it did kind of leave a taste in our experience. I'm sure we'll get over...
