My sister won 8 "free" tickets to Laffs comedy so she invited me, family and friends to attend a show this past Saturday. There were 7 of us total. We were informed that everyone had to order 2 items and everyone did order 2 items. 5 members in our group ordered drinks at the bar prior to being seated in the main showroom and then we all ordered food. The 2 members that didn't order drinks at the bar ordered in the main showroom. However, when we received our tabs from the waitress we noticed everyone had a $10 seating fee and $6 service fee plus what we already paid for food & drink. Not exactly what I'd call "winning free tickets." My sister talked with the woman at the front desk --a heavyset white woman-- as to why we were charged $16 for seating and service when she supposed won "free tickets." The lady said we were charged for seating because we didn't purchase 2 items and the "service fee" was standard. However, we all purchased 2 items. For some reason Laffs did not accept what we purchsed at the bar. They only include what you purchase in the main showroom. Unfortunately, my sister ended up paying for all 6 "seating" fees ($60) because she felt bad inviting us to a "free" show when it really wasn't "free" at all. Also, having a $6 service fee is ridiculous because we are all good tippers. All of us tip 20-25% on a regular basis so forcing us to pay a "service fee" on top of everything else is ridiculously extra. It is pretty pathetic that Laffs has to swindle their guests into walking through their doors by giving out bogus "free tickets." It's a scam. Whoever runs this business is a scammer. My family and I will not be returning to this dump called "Laffs." Furthermore, the comics that performed were below mediocre and did not make us "Laff" at all. Have fun scamming the next group who wins...
Read moreAs a loyal patron, I’ve consistently updated my reviews for Laffs Comedy Caffé with each visit, but unfortunately, this time was a major letdown. Tonight’s experience was far from the norm. From the moment we walked in, the entire vibe felt off. The lady at the front kiosk was unfriendly, the hosts lacked energy, the servers were inattentive, and even the headliner failed to deliver. The only saving grace of the night was the feature act, who showed genuine passion and drive.
The club atmosphere was entirely different from what I’ve come to love. A few family members attended the weekend prior and walked out mid-show due to similar issues, which I initially found hard to believe. Despite their feedback, I decided to give it another chance. Sadly, they weren’t wrong.
The service was disappointing: cold food, long waits for drinks, and minimal table service. We didn’t get our first round of drinks until halfway through the feature act and never saw our server again, not even for a water refill. This lack of attentiveness made the experience feel chaotic and unprofessional.
As for the comedy, aside from the feature act, the lineup felt underwhelming. It seemed like the comics were unpolished, which didn’t help the overall experience.
If this had been my first visit, it might have been my last. However, I’ve had too many great nights here to give up hope. I truly want to see Laffs bounce back and reclaim its spot as a top destination for a good time in town. I’ll be rooting for the return of its usual charm and energy, but for now, I’ll be more cautious about recommending...
Read moreWe went on Thursday which is Open Mic Night, and it was wonderful as always. They had a lot of great comedians and some I think we will be seeing a lot of. Service was wonderful and personable and the food was awesome as always and the drinks were perfect. Atmosphere was amazing that night. We actually had a whole table of firefighters so it was really fun when they did a interaction with the crowd because they asked my husband what he did and he said he worked for the city and then of course when they moved on to the next table and asked they also said they worked for the city and then it was actually the whole table. So it seems like everybody worked for the city so it was very funny cuz it kind of screwed with the comedian so it was a very fun night. I would recommend Thursday nights if you just want a night out of drinks or I would check out there Friday and Saturday because they always have wonderful comedians that if you just want to laid back night and check out some new up-and-coming comedians I would go on Thursdays. Or if you're just thinking about becoming a stand-up comic, I would go on Thursdays because then you could talk with other comics to see how they got started and I'll give you some great tips. Everybody's very...
