I am going to start off this review by saying this.
I originally discovered the store a few years ago when trying to find other stores in town that sold model kits other than Hobby lobby or Ace hardware. When I first stopped in there they a large selection of models. Including some you would have to go all the way to Phoenix to find. They even had a small dog running around the place which I did mind at first.
The reasoning why I am giving the rating I am. Is because of the deteriorating quality of the store.
At first everything was organized and looked professional. As time went on the store started to become more cluttered, with merchandise covering the floors making it a little hard to navigate around. Which leads me to what happened yesterday.
I came in to inquire about the pricing of a new TCG that had just released. As I approach the counter I had gotten a whiff of dog urine. After that I immediately turned around and walked out.
Brings me to my point. I recommend to the owner take this advice seriously. If you are going to neglect your business to the point where customers are walking out because of its condition. You need to rethink your existence as a business owner
I would like to make a revision to my review in regards to the owner's comment on it.
The first point: Just because an account does not have any previous reviews, does not automatically make it a "burner account ".
Second point: "there is no dog pee" there is a possible chance that the owner might have gone nose blind from the odor. They may not recognize that it's there.
Third point: "We actively were rearranging the store for an upcoming large event." Professionally, event preparations are usually taken care of outside of operating hours. That does not excuse the problem of the clutter. From what I've noticed their clutter problem has persisted for months, even after multiple rearrangements...
Read moreInitially walking in I was surprised to see so many people in the shop. It's rather small and people play cards in the back. The first thing I noticed upon walking in was the loose dog and stains on the floor. The dog was nice and let my very eccentric younger sister pet it. The urine spots are a sanitation and health issue. After being in this store for a few minutes my shoes were sticky for the rest of the day. A man gave me his card and gave me the run down. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the selection. There didn't actually seem to be much in the store. There was a small manga shelf but it seemed to be only later issues of mostly mainstream manga. There were a few little anime themed items and such like chopsticks, stickers, keychains, candles. There was also a small shelf of figures as well as plushies. I think the shops deals mostly in cards and card related games. Their prices were also seemingly a bit high. This seems more like a club type place rather than a public business. The staff seemed very kind. Overall I don't think I'll be going back.
[EDIT] Still haven't gone back. It's been a while so maybe it has changed. Looking back I'd say the selection in the store is fine and you won't find much like it in Tucson. The store does cater to tabletop card games which isn't my tea but I can see someone being interested. Staff was kind and attentive. So no complaints on the store as a store itself from my experience. However the urine stains still remain an issue for me. It isn't difficult to train a dog to scratch the door when it needs to go outside and relieve itself. Nor do I think it's take too much time to leash it and follow when it needs to go out so it's safe. If you can overlook the carpet sanitition then yeah. I'd recommend this store. For that reason I'm moving my 2 star...
Read moreOtaku Nation is a treasure trove in a decaying card community. Most shops are not helpful barely bothering to sell the merchandise but the owner and even regulars to the store can and will fully elaborate on any products in store to help your decisions. Getting into a new card game? Great enviroment for teachers and friendly matches as well as deck building help. The sportsmanship takes me back years since Ive had this level of freindly community. The ability to order products he dosent have and a lot of local crafts being sold here is as mazing with tons of people who enjoy working with this community. The only real complaint that can be brought is the stores new but honestly thats why I love it because I see the love and care being put in to establish a shop that cares for customers and provides detailed information and a wealth of knowledge while still constantly growing and improving. The service and fun here keeps me coming back for tournaments, events that are exclusively held, and most importantly a warm community that is perpetuated by the owner and every player who...
