Mangos Refresqueria y Cafe — Restaurant in Tucson

I just visited not even an hour ago for the first time ever. I was so excited as I have waited a long time before visiting, just to be dissatisfied as soon as I walked in. Tell me why it smelled like bad corn and “trapo mojado” the moment I stepped in. Sadly that didn’t stop me from ordering. The people here are alright nothing out of the normal customer service. But THEN I get my raspado de Durazno. And I thought the peaches looked a lil darker than the usual but I thought maybe it was just the lighting in there. Boy was I wrong. I took my first sip as soon as I got home and I immediately knew the peaches they used were mad old. Like disgustingly old. I was and am still so upset after I had heard such good things about this place just to be served old peaches in a raspado I paid around $7 for. White corn for the elote preparado makes for a real chewy, and hard corn. It was tasteless so I wonder if the corn was just old or the wrong type? The elote with chips was 9.50 and the menu did not say "with chips" meant a few chips with the same corn/mayo/cheese mixture (also it said it was 7.50 not 9.50). The cocktel de elote was a cup of old corn water with butter and cheese and no flavor. I have never had an elote preparado cup that looked more like sad soup than elote preparado. As someone from Michigan, with less than satisfactory latinx cuisine.... we have better elote preparado. We spent over 35 bucks (not including tip, which was 7 bucks) on two elotes with chips, a medium milkshake, small raspado and the cocktel de elote. Overall a fun yummy Mexican place! Such a huge menu so there's something for everyone! Not a lot of seating inside and a few tables outside if you want to sit in the heat. We got birria quesadillas and they were super delicious, but smaller than I'd like. I got a mangonada, and my husband a strawberry raspado. Mangoada is good, I'd say it's a mix between a slushie and crushed ice and mango chunks, not fully blended. The strawberry raspado with crema was delicious, I should've gotten one! Lastly I also got an elote, on the cob. It was good, nothing special, I think I would have preferred a cup of elote instead if the cob.
