The Sunny Daze Cafe has some highs and some lows. When we first walked in we saw that the place was very full so we thought we may sit at the bar. We were told the bar was used as a staging area for dishes and we would be seated instead. I am not sure why they have a bar, but do not serve alcoholic drinks. After seating we were served our drinks, then had to wait 10 minutes just for the waitress to take the order. While waiting, we decided to check out the restroom. As shown in pics below it was not very clean, and overall needed to be updated, as well as the floor redone. The table was very nice and had some local ads printed into it as seen in the pictures below. The design of the restuarant was nice, although it was a bit crowded. We were only ordering one dish and splitting it. We ordered the Skillet #1 with Cajun Sausage. The waitress then informed us that to bring an extra plate so we could split the meal there was an extra 99 cent charge, which is crazy to charge for, I could see if they plated the food up and made it nice, but they just brought a new plate. We went ahead and ordered it anyway. Our food took 15-20 mins to be brought to us, which is a long time for just one meal, but they were also very busy. As we were waiting we noticed their outdoor lighting was painted to look like 4' lights but was actually just corrugated plastic which is a nice green feature. When we got the skillet our eggs were undercooked. We ordered over-medium and they were over-easy and runny. The meal tasted good but wasnt anything special, also a bit small, it could be easily made at a home. When we started to leave during payment they gave us their signature complimentary cinnamon puff and handed us our bill. The food was reasonably priced, the skillet was around $10.00, however the drinks were overpriced, with the coffee being nearly $2.00 and the lemonade a little more than $2.00. As we were leaving, we overheard a lady say that there was no signage on the right side of the building, which there was none. There was also not very great parking. I would have rated the Sunny Daze Cafe higher, had the drinks been priced lower, had the service been better, and if the bathroom was clean. I am not specifically trying to be negative, but these are all honest...
Read moreI went in for breakfast a couple days ago and my over all experience was terrible I remember coming as a kid and always being happily greeted and sat down and having a great time it’s been a few years since I’ve gone but the day I decided to come back almost instantly the waitress was rude she sat us down and seemed in a hurry to get our drinks even though there was hardly to no one there then it came time to order and she was annoyed taking the order she messed up a little on my meal and i shrugged it off accidents happen but we also placed an order of sunny puffs at the same time as the food and my guest and I had finished our food and we both realized we haven’t gotten our dessert yet, so I politely asked to waitress and checked on the status of our dessert annoyed. She told me to go sit down, and she would be with me in a minute. About five minutes later, she came back with the desert, but the entire time while we were eating waiting the waitress was in front talking with the other waitress terrible customer service on her behalf. She seem like she did not want to be there and completely ruined the experience for me I didn’t catch your name, but she was the one with, the dark big drawn on eyebrows as I got ready to pay she started being polite asking about the experience. I didn’t really say a word. I just pay the full for the food, and she reminded me that tips were always optional after the experience I didn’t believe she...
Read moreWe happened on this cheerful Sunny Daze restaurant while exploring Tucson’s many long-time-in-business breakfast options and it immediately became one of our regular haunts. A friendly, reasonably-priced, consistently good food restaurant with attentive and friendly service. As you are lead to your table you pass a glass counter with Sunny Daze’s huge icing topped cinnamon rolls. Start with the coffee, Arbuckles, a local rich brew which is the perfect start to your morning meal! All your favorites are there, any combination of eggs, omelettes, bacon, sausage, ham, waffles, pancakes. Take advantage of one of the many combinations, to enjoy your breakfast favorites. There are also several tasty classic Mexican breakfast options. I opted for the biscuits and gravy combination, which is two biscuits smothered in sausage gravy and served with two eggs and your choice of meat. My wife had a similar combination but with one of the aforementioned cinnamon rolls instead of the biscuits and gravy. Both were delicious and both fresh and freshly prepared. Again, the servers and staff are friendly and attentive, and the portion sizes are huge. You will not leave hungry. In addition to breakfast there is also a full lunch and dinner menu. If you like old style cafe or diner restaurants with great food and service, give this place a try. You won’t be...
