Saw this on YouTube in one of Mark Wiens' videos and decided to drive from west Texas to try it. We had the carne asada and the mixed, which is a mixture of carne asada and pastor. Requested both be wrapped in bacon. Today, that broke down per burrito as $12.50 ($9.75 for the burrito and an additional $2.75 for the bacon wrap).
Each burrito they offer comes with shredded mozzarella, green chile strips, tomato, onion and avocado. They also offer a few different salsas and you get a grilled jalapeño as well. Overall, this food was good.
I think they are experiencing a bit of youtube fame right now, so there are quite a few people going just to try the burrito wrapped in bacon out. Can't say I blame them, I did the exact same thing! I'd say, just remember to be patient during your wait.
I was a bit disappointed to see they are a cash only operation, seeing as how there are so many methods to pay out there. But hopefully that will change soon. In the meantime, they are parked right next to a convenient store that conveniently has an ATM inside.
With regards to ordering, we were behind approximately 9 people who ordered burritos and we had our food in about 45 minutes. The girl I ordered with was pleasant and helpful. They give you one of those things that vibrates and makes noise when your order is ready and across the way is a little covered "indoor" area to sit. This is where all the salsas, sour cream, utensils and napkins are.
There is no bathroom, in case you need one.
Overall, the burritos are a great size. They're super long and filled to a good capacity with meat. The bacon outside lends it a delicious, crispy saltiness that only bacon has and I love that the bacon is super thin, so it won't get to you soggy.
I took one star away simply because I love super spicy food or salsa and they offer 4 salsas, neither of which has anywhere near enough spice for me and the jalapeño tasted like grass. Other than that, what we tried of the burritos was yummy and their service, despite being a bit slow right now, was pleasant. Definitely recommend giving them a try and I really hope they continue to grow and...
Read moreMy husband and I went to try this place today for lunch and the lady taking our order was very nice very helpful then the weight was not too bad to get some of our food. They only have Bottled drinks and a few salsa selections. we only got 2-4 lemons that were somewhat hard. We were digging in to our food. I look over and the cook comes out the back of the truck digging in his pockets with the gloves still on. They walk next-door to the little market and on the way back I see the cook still has the gloves on!!! So we were still waiting for our fries and when the cook goes back into the truck, I try to see if they changed their gloves but did not witness any glove changing and then my fries came out immediately after came back. I work Hard for my money to spend it at places I believe deserve it, and I would like to see better customer service...
Read moreBacon. Wrapped. Burrito. All 3 of these words alone sound enticing, but when these guys make it your reality you will find a new level of happiness! The sodium though can be overwhelming, I'm not sure if they've switched to low sodium bacon since my first time (2020) or that I've gotten the cream cheese addition every time after but man... perfection ever since! They're salsas are amazing, I prefer the super hot but to each their own. I haven't tried anything else besides that burrito I must admit, but I have tried every protien option in the burrito. They're all good, but I prefer when they mix them all together. In conclusion, thank god it's been around 30 minutes away my whole time in Tucson. If it was less than 10 minutes away I'd need to buy...
