Our family had never had Somali or Ethiopian food, but I read the rave review in the Seattle Times and made the hour round-trip drive to pick up. 100% will do it again! We ordered 4 dishes to share so we could try a variety and everything was amazing. We had the hilib ari (that rice was so flavorful and the goat meat paired really well with the green sauce), kati kati (slightly sweet bits with the savory meat made this one my favorite), Ethiopian injera (SO MUCH FOOD comes with this one order and I think we each dreamt about the spice combo of all the dishes in it because my teenager was eating it for breakfast this morning), and canbuulo (this was the only one that was bland-ish compared to the others - but did go really nicely when mixed with the other dishes. I wouldn’t order it by itself though).
Couple of notes for consideration - every dish comes with a LOT of food and is well worth the price point. I knew we would have a lot of leftovers when it felt like the to-go bags weighed 10 lbs for 4 dishes! The spongy flatbread that comes with the Ethiopian injera is actually 2 pieces (mine were a little stuck together by the time I got home and I didn’t know - these are huge (like the diameter of a large pizza), but very flat so don’t forget to peel them apart! And finally - everything has been delicious reheated as leftovers so don’t be afraid to order an extra dish and eat family style by sharing everything. Even the flatbread is good the next day! I can’t wait to try the breakfast menu some morning :)
If you’re on the fence, I encourage you to give this a try. I don’t have a comparison to other East African food, but everything was amazing and fun to taste & expand our...

I had an absolutely horrible experience at Juba Restaurant. The customer service was terrible—the staff was rude and unprofessional from start to finish. The toilets were filthy, which was honestly disgusting and unacceptable.
My husband ordered grilled goat, but what he received was clearly leftovers or previously cooked food, which was both disappointing and unappetizing. I ordered nshima with beef and asked for beans because I don’t like spinach as a vegetable to eat with nshima. Instead of accommodating my request politely, the cashier was rude and demanded that I pay extra for the beans, which was frustrating and uncalled for.
We spent about $75 on what turned out to be some of the nastiest food we've ever had. The only redeeming part of the meal was the mango smoothie, which was actually quite good.
Overall, I will never return to Juba Restaurant. The experience was completely disappointing and not worth the price. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for authentic and...
