Listen, I've been on a quest for the perfect breakfast for years. I've scaled mountains of pancakes, forded rivers of maple syrup, and wrestled with a particularly stubborn omelet. But my search ended the moment I walked into the Apple Barrel Cafe in Tulsa.
I absolutely love this place
The signs outside the front door are a work of art. They look like they've been hanging there since before sliced bread was invented, and I mean that as a compliment. The pictures of the food are so faded you can barely tell what they are, which is genius. It's like a culinary mystery box. You order, and you have no idea what's coming, but you know it's going to be a delightful surprise. My biscuits and gravy arrived looking so vibrant and delicious, it was like the food was actively trying to make up for the faded signs outside. And let me tell you, it succeeded. The biscuits are so fluffy, they're practically clouds, and the gravy is a creamy, peppery dream. I could eat it with a spoon, and I'm not afraid to admit that I have.
Now, let's talk about the staff. They're not just waiters and waitresses; they're acrobatic food wizards. I saw one person carrying two full coffee pots and a tray overflowing with food, and not a single drop was spilled. I don't know what kind of black magic they're using, but I'm impressed. It's like watching a Cirque du Soleil show, but with more gravy. They're a well-oiled machine of hospitality, and their outstanding customer service makes you feel like you're part of the family.
And the prices? Forget about it. They're so reasonable, you'll think you've accidentally time-traveled back to the 90s. You can get a hearty, delicious meal without having to sell a kidney on the black market.
So, if you're looking for great food, fantastic prices, and a side of mystery and magic, the Apple Barrel Cafe is the place to be. Just don't ask for an apple. Trust me...

But honestly, maybe I am the last to know and I am chirping about something well understood in the beautiful city of Tulsa.
In a time where great service is more and more rare, tonight Apple Barrel Cafe made quite an impression on me.
Starting from the moment we parked and started walking towards the restaurant, one of the staff actually held the door open for us and ushered us in.
We had barely put the menu down and ordered before they brought us our salad, soup, and huge fluffy warm dinner rolls with whipped butter. All the above was awesome. By the time we had finished those our entrees hit the table.
Anything we could think to need we had before we even had to ask.
Equally important the food was quite good. I got the western hamburger steak, which was a delicious half pound hamburger steak with cheddar cheese, onion, bell pepper, and tomato. My wife got a B.L.T that was loaded with Bacon. Her words " this picture does not do justice to the sheer amount of bacon on that sandwich ". It looked almost Scooby-Doo esque in the best way.
My 7 year old has really blossomed as a conversationalist. He seldom stops to even take a breath most of the time between his stories, singing, and constant joke telling but he was dead silent as he munched away at his chicken finger plate.( which was free, as kids eat free weeknights 5-8)
We enjoyed the kids drawings hung in the walls, the cleanliness of the resturant, and the general cozy atmosphere.
On the way out we spotted the pie. đ. We will definitely be back.
Today a dollar doesn't go as far as it used to, and I am about as shrewd as they come but if you like heaping portions of delicious food for dirt cheap prices Apple Barrel is the...
Read moreI took my grandkids to this restaurant because they had been wanting to try it. I had been there before. I took 4 grandkids to eat lunch on a Saturday. They gave us a menu that said the drinks are part of the meal. when i asked for the drinks the waitress, Nicole told me the drinks were .99 a drink. I showed her the menu but she said it didn't matter. the manager came and brought me a different menu, but i said that the menu is the one he gave me. He would not change his mind. I ordered the drinks and said i would pay for them. All was fine, except for Nicole. She kept being hateful and disrespectful. My four grandkids were very nervous and didn't like how she was treating us. We decided to leave and not eat there. We had not ordered food yet, we had been waiting. When i told her we were going to leave she got even more hateful. She said I will get your ticket for the drinks. She made us pay for the drinks even after treating us so hateful. I paid for the drinks at the counter and explained to her that i was not comfortable with how we were treated and not sure how they would treat our food. She then raised her voice and let me know that i should not question what she told me about the kids drinks. I tried to explain that I was the customer and should not be treated this way. she said she didn't care if i was the customer, she was going to let me know what she thought. I asked for the manager again. I told him i would be sharing this review. it was a very uncomfortable experience for little kids. but they did not care. If I could give a half a star review I would. for being a new restaurant in the area it is a shame that we got treated so disrespectful for 4, .99 drinks. Thank you Apple Barrel for letting me grandkids see...
