UPDATED REVIEW One of my top picks for breakfast in Tulsa. My standard order: two sunny side, bacon, hashbrowns, one biscuit with gravy. A satisfying breakfast meal that most any diner has on their menu. Not every diner does it as well as Eggcellent & Things Café. My wife opted for the French toast platter. French toast, two eggs and bacon. As with every meal that is placed on the table here it was perfect. Clean comfortable restaurant. Fast friendly service.
PREVIOUS REVIEW From the restaurant’s website, “With 20 years of experience cooking in the finest restaurants, our chef is excited to present their vision to you and all our guests. Our caring and committed staff make sure you have a fantastic experience with us.” …….
The 20 years of experience was demonstrated with the chef’s perfect Hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict. Light, lemony, fresh butter flavor and a hint of cayenne pepper. You don’t learn how to make Hollandaise sauce like that from working in a Waffle House. The chef has experience. Sarah was our friendly attentive smiling server. A caring and committed staff member as the restaurant describes.
The most excellent example of Eggs Benedict that I have had in many years. Anything comparable that I have had, were enjoyed at an upscale restaurant in a major city. (meaning nowhere in OK). They were that good. Medium cooked eggs, on lightly toasted fork tender English muffin halves, thin slices of processed ham and that perfect Hollandaise Sauce. Crispy traditional diner style hashbrowns was my choice for a side. The perfect accompaniment.
My wife had the Chilaquiles with the green sauce. A thin layer of beans lined the plate, then a layer of fried corn tortilla chips, medium spicy green sauce, two flawless fried eggs, finished with sour cream and queso fresco. Sliced avocado on the side. Judged by my wife as “The best plate of Chilaquiles that I have ever had.”
According to Sarah, the chef had recently been operating from food trucks around Tulsa. He wanted to work out of a facility without wheels. When Los Primos bit the dust at this old Taco Bueno building, he grabbed the opportunity.
This is a fantastic restaurant with a blend of Mexican inspired dishes and traditional American food. The service is very good. The menu is online.
My only complaint is with the restaurant’s Credit Card Fee. Yes, they do that. This may keep me from coming back……….

First things first, a quick shoutout to our awesome server, Emma, who made our breakfast experience smooth and enjoyable. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks, Emma!
Now, onto the food!
I ordered the corned beef hash with sourdough toast and avocado on the side—and WOW, this dish delivered! The chopped potatoes were perfectly balanced with tender corned beef, and the toast was crispy on one side and warm and buttery on the other -- just right! Oh, and the hollandaise sauce? Amazing. Smooth, rich, and flavorful, with just the right little kick—it elevated every bite!
My wife went for the steak and eggs (poached, of course), and it was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and flavorful, and her poached eggs were exactly what you'd hope for—delicate whites with velvety yolks. She loved the hollandaise sauce just as much as I did, adding it to just about everything on her plate.
Our younger son was all about those Mickey Mouse pancakes with whipped cream, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, and sausage links. The pancake was fluffy and golden, and the whipped cream made it a total kid-pleaser. He gave it two sticky thumbs up!
Meanwhile, our older son went straight for the chicken and waffles. The waffle was light and airy, the fried chicken was crispy and flavorful, and together, they hit that perfect sweet-and-savory combo. He cleaned his plate in record time—always a good sign!
Our son's friend kept it classic with a chocolate chip waffle, scrambled eggs, and bacon. That waffle? Loaded with melty chocolate chips and just the right amount of sweetness. Add the crispy bacon and fluffy eggs, and you've got yourself a solid breakfast winner.
And did I mention the portions? Generous across the board!
All in all, EGGcellent & Things Cafe really lived up to its name. Cozy vibes, fantastic food, and stellar service. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, we might just order extra...
Read moreMy wife & I are (almost) 80 years old. We enjoy getting up early on Saturday mornings and going out for breakfast...and "mom & pop" places. I found this place with a Google search. We tried it this morning and were very pleased. It certainly met all our expectations. Sausage was nicely spiced...home fries are exceptional...Prettiest pancakes I've seen in a long time (and LARGE!). My omelet was exceptionally good ("Okie" omelet augmented with green pepper & onion). My wife's "over medium" eggs were over "hard". SARAH (waitress)...was quick to correct that and brought my wife two "new" eggs...just right. SARAH is the BEST waitress...stays on top of things and assures food satisfies your requirements. Besides that, she's a pleasant and greeting smile in the mornings. Can't ask for more. We're pleased to have discovered Eggcellent (and SARAH) and will certainly be back. (Thanks, SARAH!) (I told her to keep her eye out for a Google...
