Very Authentic Mexican Food
We enjoyed the meal, but it did not stand out as much more than average for us. The meal starts with chips that were probably fried in the restaurant. They weren't very fresh and crisp. The salsa is served in very small cups. You will need to ask for more.
We had the Mole Enchiladas Chicken and the Carne Asada. I wanted to try their Consommé which was listed on the menu as a special that was only available on Saturday and Sunday. But, the waitress said they didn't have any this weekend.
The mole on the enchiladas was very distinct. It had strong chocolate and cinnamon flavors. They were generous with four chicken filled enchiladas. I did not care for at all. My wife enjoyed them. The carne asada was very typical. Two large very thinly sliced steaks that had been char grilled. It came with beans, rice, a grilled onion, pico de gallo and a chili toreado!
They serve two bottles of some type of refrigerated sauce with the meal. I am not sure what each was made of, but there both good. I'm guessing that it was some type of sour cream based sauce with combinations of cilantro, tomatillo, avocado and peppers. Folks that are knowledgeable of traditional Mexican food probably know what they are.
The restaurant was crowded when we got there. The wait for the food was short. The service overall was average.
This restaurant seems to have strong following of customers that prefer true authentic Mexican food. I have driven by Molcajetes at different hours of the day and they always have several cars out front. At meal time the parking lot is packed!

Read moreBeen driving by this place for years as I live right down the street... Always packed!!! Well decided to pull in and give them a shot last night since the wife and I couldn't figure out dinner. Outside is clean but pretty plain but once you walk in its bright and inviting, staff was very friendly and service was quick to get us our drinks. The menu was huge and the prices were very reasonable. The wife got the seafood fajitas and was enough for 2 meals, I got the Shrimp in Garlic sauce and the amount of garlic was insane and the flavor was very deep and rich! The beans look to be a white navy bean done as a lightly refried bean but not thick and pasty, absolutely delicious!!!! We also ordered the guacamole and the server asked if we wanted onions and tomatoes in it which I was a little confused by until it showed up and seemed to be made to order... very bright and fresh flavor and lots of lime. Really wanted some horchata and as expected no free refills but as a treat I order a glass after the meal and LET ME TELL YOU WHAT... THE BEST IVE EVER HAD!!! 10/10 will be a...
Read moreStopped in for the night before my flight the next morning. Had a five star review but I failed to see how...! Was crowded server was selfishly rude. Due to lack in communication I guess 🤷♀️ ( even though it was explained in English and Spanish to server) she proceeded to add unnecessary seasonings and sauces to my enchilada plate because I asked to please have my first plate returned and fixed the first time when it came to the table incorrect. ""Hooe that came out correctly lol" anyways basically my server was terribly rude and kitchen staff joined in with ruining my food and server only came to table to take drink order other wise I had to get up or flag another worker over. Oh and one last thing. YES THEY HAVE A BAR SECTION INSIDE....BUT THEY DONT EVEN OFFER MARGARITAS OF ANY KIND. like what kinda of Mexican restaurant doesn't atleast serve a margaritas?? Maybe it's just me with that opinion idk. But Mexican food+ having patron or tequila or any hard liquor = commen sense thought of margaritas on the menu automatically...thank you for taking the time to...
