Iāve always loved Goldieās ā my favorite burger in the whole world. However, Iāve been there three times in the past year and was disappointed with the sticky table, the haphazard, begrudging servers/hostesses, and the food. Burgers: requested āmedium.ā Once was a good medium, once was nearly a dried-out well-done puck (I didnāt complain, just ate it rather than see it wasted since you canāt reverse well-done.) The third one was āwarm rare,ā I.e, warm but uncooked-red inside. I very politely asked for a little more cooking. The server sighed, rolled her eyes, took the plate and whirled away, obviously miffed at me. She returned, roughly clattered the plate onto the table without a word, and turned away fairly stomping off in a huff. I tried to say thanks to no avail. Each time, I requested fries to be āreally hot, right out of the fryer, please.ā The result was perfect ā once. The other two times, the fries arrived barely more warm than tepid is. I asked for an exchange for fresh, hot fries as requested. I was told once that since Covid, the fries werenāt from the same supplier and werenāt as good, that they didnāt āhold their heat.ā (!?!? ā Do I look that dumb???) The other time I was told that I let them get cold ā this was said when the server brought them to the table, and I tasted one before she left the table! How I let it get cold, Iāll never guess. I pointed out, patiently, that she just brought it and I was immediately tasting it, and began arguing with me that they were hot. (They were barely warm.) I wasnāt about to argue over my dinner when I wanted pleasant peace more than hot fries. Too bad for her. I always tip generously. Sometimes I leave literally a 100% tip for good pleasant service, and even more if I just especially feel ānudgedā to give more feel ā I know those girls need the money. Once I gave $100 to buy new shoes for a hard-working, single-mom server and her little girl. Only twice in my life have I not tipped ā the accusing, arguing server at Goldieās was one of the twice. Pickles, water, and ketchup were all excellent. Once out of three the meat was cooked fine. The paper napkins were clean. (I used them and some water to wipe down the sticky table and ketchup bottle.)
Goldieās could still be the āgreatest,ā but the attitudes, the lack of care about quality, temperature of the food, pleasant service, respect for the customer, have plummeted. Dining out should always be a pleasure. None of the 3 times this past year at Goldieās was a pleasure nor had both burger and fries cooked as requested. 70 years old, a Tulsan loving Goldieās, but wonāt be returning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust had the WORST experience ever at this Goldies. My friend and I both ordered the Goldies dinner which is a double patty with cheese and onion inside. Ask for medium well, which to me means no E COLI. Im eating it and It tasted really bad and burnt, turned it over and the bottom was total charcoal! My friends was not as bad but still tasted burnt. And to make it worse it was super salty. I have been eating at Goldies restaurants since early 1979 in BA, Tulsa, and at Grand Lake and never have the burgers been salty and burnt! When I mentioned the salt issue to waitress she said it was the Goldies seasoning, well it never has been the "Goldies seasoning" before. She kept trying to explain it away, and said maybe next time i should request less seasoning, I never had to do that before and the burgers have been just fine. She tried to blame to burnt charcoal flavor on requesting medium well. Never been a problem before so how is it now. She kept dancing around the fact that the cook in the kitchen screwed up. FINALLY she did say she would talk to the manager and came back and asked if I wanted another, which I declined because of two reasons, one i dont have time to wait another 20 minutes, and 2, I DONT TRUST COOKS when they have to remake something, especially in not so classy establishments. The manager offered HALF OFF one of our meals, because I had ate the top half which wasnt as burned, but still so salty it was unbelievable. He never came to the table or anything. Because of the way the manager handled the situation, I doubt I ever will go back, plenty of other good places to go. Flos over by TU may be my new...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGoldie's has been here since the 50's... been eating here all my life. I've eaten a lot of hamburgers, in many areas of the country, as I'm sure everyone has & I've come to realize that Goldie's has Absolutely the Best to be found, Anywhere!... ..including those I've eaten from backyard cook-outs. I'm not sure how they do it, except, using exceptional quality beef, to minimal seasoning, they way they're cooked & to you're desired doneness...Rare! Pleaseš Where can you get a burger grilled rare??... I know, people say, I'd Never eat rare ground beef, but the quality of they're beef, along with their reputation & like I said, they've been doing this successfully at their many locations for over 60 years...never think twice about it. These hamburgers, literally taste like a perfectly grilled steak at the finest steak houses...Even when you take it home & warm it up later... it's every bit as incredible, every time. The staff & service are awesome, first rate & friendly...as are the sides they offer. Don't forget the free pickle bar, with several varieties for you to enjoy during the short wait for your steak.... I meant, hamburger... I was sad to know they had to close several locations because of the covid "ordeal"...but they do plan to re-open others as they're able. Please help keep this Tulsa tradition here & able to re-open other locations in the Tulsa area. So sad we've lost some of the best long standing Tulsa restaurants ...lets not loose Goldie's too... Please visit them...Often, I've Never been disappointed.
Thank...
