I went in to get a cake for my sisters birthday and I asked the lady in there for a chocolate cake for four people which she got. It was a little brown chocolate cake and she pulled it out and said basically this one. She just kind of took it out and asked if this one was ok, I said ok because I kind of just felt rushed and she asked what kind of icing I wanted and I couldn’t really decide because it was brown and my sister likes green so I was thinking but also felt rushed to decide. I said maybe like a green expecting a light, sage green, I asked if she thought that it was a good idea to do green and she said yes, she thought it would look good. A few minutes later, she brings it back out and it’s this neon green on a brown cake and I asked if she could do a different one instead. I realize it’s icing so it’s kind of hard to replace, but it was really not cute at all, so she said she could but there would be a little green still there, but we can scrape it off and do a different color and I said OK that would be fine. So she asked what color I wanted and I said I guess purple trying to think of a color that would look okay but I couldn’t really think of one looking good on a brown cake, so she brings out this neon purple and is like is this purple okay, and I just said yeah because I felt like she was already frustrated with doing a different color. So I didn’t want to ask to make a different shade! She brings it back out and I can barely even read the words and there’s a green smudge behind it. Read moreI went into this location this morning around 9:15/20 on my way to work. I walked in and there were 2 customers speaking with an employee about a cake. Other than me, there was no one else around. I stood around for almost 10 min before she finally asked for someone to help with the front from the back...but never even acknowledged that I was there. Finally, several minutes later, 2 employees came from the back (and older woman and a young woman). The older of the 2 asked who was next, because by that time, 2 other customers had come in...without ever being acknowledged. I asked her if there were any snowflake cakes available and that I wasn't sure what the ones in the display were. She answered me by saying "well I can't tell you that if I can't see them" in a very condescending voice while she walked to the display. She assured me there weren't any of the ones I wanted, so I said "ok, then I just need some things out of the other display". She then walked over to the register where the customers were discussing cake and completely ignored me. I stood there waiting and she never even looked my direction. So the younger of the 2 finally asked if she could help me bc she realized the other woman had blown me off. Thankfully, she was extremely nice and apologetic. The other finally asked a gentleman behind me if he needed help once I was being checked out and still no apology or acknowledgment. I love this bakery, but can guarantee I won't be going back to this one unless the younger girl is working. The other 2 were just rude and need some work with their customer service. So...
Read moreIt's been a while since I've received such lack luster customer service. I am so disappointed in this Merritt's location. I usually use the one on 15th, but Riverside was closer this time, so I took a chance for my sisters birthday cake. Big mistake. When placing the order, I emailed an actual picture for the example of what I wanted to so it was clear. I was told they could do the design I requested. When I went to pick it up, I was told I had to wait in line behind all other customers and take a number instead of going to a to-go or pre-order area. When the cake was brought out, I voiced that I was disappointed it looked so different from the pic I sent in, in color and design. Instead of apologizing, the -manager- proceeded to give excuses and offered no other help. Every employee there seemed to have a bit of an attitude issue for some reason. I then get home to pack up for the party and find that my sisters name (which is 3 letters!!!) was misspelled!! I called and was very upset as this couldn't be fixed, and the manager once again offered no help, or resolution. I had to be the one to SUGGEST a partial refund as a starter idea. For a $50 cake, I was very upset about this. Fast forward about 3 days, I see NO refund made. I call and inquire, and I'm told she hasn't had time to do it??? Again, offering no information on when this will be done. At the end of it all, I had to call another location to get it done, and even then, they only refunded $15!!
