This place has character. It is unique, artsy, and laid back. The baristas are quick, courteous, and helpful. I had a hot mocha to stay and it was served in a beautiful hand crafted cup. The owner makes the cups and all the fried pottery items you see in the shop. She even sells them for those looking for a unique local art souvenir. Also, they feature local artists in their shop as well. The one that was there when I visited is a traditional hand print artist. She makes her own extremely detailed stamps and hand rolls the ink onto them and stamps the image onto high quality paper. The coffee was great and smooth. The foam on top looks beautifully crafted and the little muffins and cookies are delectable. Overall, I will definately be coming back here. It was a great experience and I highly reccomend you stop in. Starbucks has nothing on the unique charm of this place. Dont waste money on big chains. Buy your morning pick me up here, it tastes better by far.

I love stopping by Shades of Brown to study. They have a great coffee selection and some food options from Trenchers Deli, which you should check out if are looking for an amazing sandwich. Oh yeah, back to the coffee. They have very knowledgeable barista staff who are able to provide some tasting notes on drip and espresso options. Instead of typical mugs, they offer locally made ceramic cups which, albeit poorly insulated, are very artistic and provide a unique environment for sipping coffee. They do have a somewhat large backroom, I say this because I didn’t notice it until I had been to shades a number of times. If you are in the Brookside area and looking for great coffee and treats then stop by Shades of brown. There is a Starbucks down the road, but their coffee offerings don’t compare to Shades...

This was my favorite coffee shop where I studied for school years ago. I would come here, chill, work, and treat myself to good coffee. This is actually where I had my first dirty chai and was mind blown. It was usually quiet except for the occassional musician who would gettin the space with their music making it impossible to talk or concentrate. Seating it way limited weekrn indoor and outdoor seating. Not good for big groups but more for one on one with the two bigger tables for just barely 4 to 5 people. Now that I am married to a coffee enthusiast and my palate has developed, they are no longer my favorite but still offer a great cuo of coffee.

I’m honestly offended by what I was served. You can see that I don’t leave reviews normally but I cannot allow this to slide.

Whom ever allowed the ā€œPersian loveā€ to be passed of as a consumable beverage should try it. There was an actual flower in my drink. I’m not certain that it was edible or food grade. The floral notes on this drink surpassed potpourri into hairspray territory. The floral ā€œnoteā€ was more like a notebook; the kind of notebook that the killer in seven wrote. My drink had the flavor equivalent of a violent sociopaths inner monologue transcribed onto my taste buds. I would believe that I had offended someone. Possibly the employee that made my drink, but that cannot be true, out of three drinks mine was just the worst. Mine was the only one that made everyone want to spit it out.(literally if we had been outside, seriously.) I was waiting on an employee to slap the drink out of my hand and tell me I had been poisoned. At some point anyone who has been to Persia should try it. The flavor profile will remind you of an open air market, near an open sewer, down wind of a burn pit. They have either pulled off the most brilliant passive aggressive menu in service industry history or they have surpassed hipster quaint. Either way they crossed a line today. They need to quit trying to be cutting edge, it isn’t working. They ...

Great shop, even greater staff! I’m familiar with coffee bars as far as coffee bars go, and I’m always a little extra impressed by the level of hospitality, humor, and care taken by the staff there. Whether it’s one person behind the bar, or several, I always find myself comfortable with my decision to choose Shades of Brown! If I’m unsure about what to order, which happens frequently, they’re always happy to answer any questions I have with specificity and knowledge about their products. If I want something new, they ask few questions to narrow my taste, and provide me with another excellent surprise of drink or snack! As far as the product goes, I’ve found their drinks to be above par and top quality, and their cookies are my favorite in Tulsa county! The shop is a very narrow space, and on a crowded afternoon can be a bit of a hassle to squeeze through, yet somehow they make use of every nook and cranny to provide the absolute maximum seating possibilities! With conveniently placed outlets around the shop it makes for a great place to plug in and get some work done! Or if it’s a lovely day, take your choice of the several outside seating options! Though it can be crowded, remember: there’s a reason everyone is going there! Shades of Brown is the place to be on Brookside, the place to...

I am not one to ever write bad reviews & in fact never have. I've been in the customer service industry for some time now and even more so now that I own my own business. On my way to the restroom, I asked for the wifi pw, then I was asked to put my mask on, which I apologized for and stated I'd put it on. Well the manager would not give me the wifi password & was rude about it, after I'd ordered a specialty drink. After a couple of hours, I wanted to warm up my coffee and asked the front desk server if she can heat up my drink in a microwave or ect.., and she stated, "no we don't have a microwave" and began to ignore me. I asked, while stilll standing there, "do you have a steamer or anything to warm up coffee"? and she said "no". I've never heard of a "coffee shop" that would allow their customers to drink cold coffee with NO WAY to warm anything up?? My whole experience was short-tempered on their part and completely stand-offish. Years ago people who worked here were atleast pleasant. SO if your rude natured and border line snobbish, than this is the PERFECT place for you & you'll fit right in, especially if you like...
