I absolutely love El Taqueria Express! As a working class father of 9, I try "Brown bag" it as much as I can, but if my teens get up after I go to bed and eat my lunch, I go to El Taqueria Express #1, located just South of 17th and Garnett (in the old Bill and Ruth's location). No meal cost more than $5 (as of 01/19/18) and as a meatless Friday Catholic, I get a bean and rice burrito for $3. I started going for that deal but when I need something on a non-Friday, I get the taco platter with steak. Three "street tacos" with steak and onions, beans and rice and carrots/peppers/lime wedge. It is fantastic! Honestly, dollar for dollar this is my favorite place to eat in Tulsa and I am a "foodie"! I feel like most things, even sushi, my wife can make as well or better and more cheaply at home, but El Taqueria Express is the closest I can get. Today at 10:59 waiting for them to open at 11:00 I was 4th in line with seven people behind me, one of which I heard ask over the phone, "What is I you get at the 'taco truck'?" It is a "tell your friends"...
Read moreMy husband came here sine he was a teenager living in Bartlesville. I had never had street tacos until I met him 7 years ago. I almost fell over with how good they were having been brought up on taco bell and taco seasoning packet ground hamburger. I got to enjoy it with him for a couple years then suddenly it changed. Seemed like new owners or recipe. The first couple times after we noticed the difference, we both got sick. Then after final try, it just seemed the meat was more gristle/fat than meat. Flavor also seemed different and while its still an amazing deal, its no longer worth the drive when Mr Tacos is closer and now better product. Miss you awesome street tacos, thank you for showing me a world beyond Dorito chips, seasoning packet, hamburger...
