It took me a couple of days to craft the most honest yet positive review because I see real potential in this restaurant. There are some fundamental issues, though, that might be holding it back.
Why would a place with good food not be packed on a Friday evening, with people waiting for a table? Let me get straight to the point: Here's what I noticed.
Your service model is solid, but it's mismatched with the location. Cherry Street is known for its dining spots where people can sit down, relax, and enjoy a cold drink. What you offer, though, feels more like a fast-food experience, where I have to stand in line and quickly choose from a limited menu. Cherry Street is mostly about table service—something people look for after a long week. The last thing we want is to wait in line to order. That might work during the week, but on the weekend, we just want to sit down, look at a menu, and have a drink while we wait.
The second fundamental issue is portion size. We paid $45 for two dishes and two drinks, but the portions didn’t quite match the price. Even if you need to be a bit generous with the side dishes, it’s worth it to make the customer feel they’re getting value for their money. For example, I don’t expect a bigger gyro, but adding more to the side dish could make all the difference. The red potatoes were delicious, but the portion was so small that it felt like we overpaid. How much would it really cost to increase that side a bit? Just a few cents, but it would greatly improve the perception of value.
As for the food itself, it was fantastic! We loved it. But the issues I noticed are more likely to hurt your business than they are to affect my personal dining experience. I could easily move on and never return, but I thought you might appreciate some feedback on how to improve. Only time will tell if those changes...
Read moreMy husband walked in and ordered 2 lamb gyros and one grilled chicken basil-pesto gyro.
We get home soon after and realize both lamb gyros have the consistency of beef and taste like beef. That's never been the case when we've ordered lamb at this location.
My husband called, got put on hold for about 4 minutes before he asked me to call.
I called, got a voicemail machine. I called right back and got through to a person immediately while he was still on hold.
After I explained to one person the issue, they switched me over to Brian Montoya, who we're assuming is the manager. I had to explain again and he swore up and down that it was lamb. Again, we've been to this location within the last weeks. It doesn't look or taste the same.
We also expressed our concern that the boxes were not labeled as they usually are when I go in there, which didn't help ease our suspicions.
He said there was nothing he could do. About this time, my husband finally got through and talked to Brian and told him our concern again. Brian said the same things and tried to end the conversation by expressing how under pressure he was and how busy they were. Also told us they were short-handed, etc. That's honestly is not our concern and not a very professional thing to tell a customer with a grievance.
After my husband mentioned how unprofessional that was, he finally said that he will refund the entire order and hung up as my husband was still trying to ask a follow-up question about the order. We called back only to get more about how busy he was.
We're never going back to ANY Taziki's after this exchange and hope that we can speak to someone else with the company who can understand...
Read moreI called around 11am on Valentines Day to place a pick up order for my husbands birthday dinner that night. We ordered two separate Dinners for Four, the chicken and the pork. We had the rice for the side, two extra orders of roasted veggies for four, two orders of the grape leaf wraps, chocolate cake and baklava. When I called, the power was out to the entire street and they asked if I could call back around 4pm for our 6pm pick up time. By around 1pm, I received a call back from an amazing gentleman. I don't know his position but he is fantastic, owner or manager maybe? He placed the order for me and said it would be ready. I picked the order up and the staff was all extremely friendly and polite. I love that the same gentleman who took my order called me Madam, instead of M'am, it was quote refreshing! The food was AMAZING! My entire family had already eaten here, at least once before, but I wasn't able to join so I was definitely excited to try it. I was not disappointed and cannot wait to go back again! It is very flavorful, healthy, and filling food. Sometimes healthy establishments can leave you hungry with smaller (honestly proper) portions and for four people, the portions for each meal are probably spot on but you do not feel hungry when you finish your food. You can taste the talent and care that goes into this food and I cannot wait for a chance to try the salmon or talapia! Thank you so much for being an amazing newer...
