Super weird experience at this Waffle House. Our server was super nice in the beginning and was friendly and outspoken. We chatted for a little bit when he noticed my phone sitting on the table. He asked what kind it was and I told him it was an iPhone 8. He said he liked my phone case and asked if he could have it. I laughed it off because he couldn’t be serious, right? Wrong. He then tells me he’d give me $5 for it. Keep in mind it’s a Lumee case, and they typically go for $40-60. I laugh it off again, saying it actually isn’t very bright anymore, and he probably didn’t want it. (I’m not a very rude person and have trouble saying no, especially when situations turn awkward like this one.) He then tells me that he’d comp our table’s sodas if he could have it. Trying to be polite as possible, I tell him that it’s super hard to get my phone out of the case. Like...take the hint. He then picks my phone off of the table, removes my phone case, and puts it on his phone. I’m sitting there dumbfounded, and he then proceeds to take our order as if he didn’t just take my phone case from me in exchange for two $2 drinks. I decide not to confront him because all I really wanted in that moment was dinner, and with everything closing early in Tupelo due to the COVID, they were my only option. I should’ve been a bit more assertive, but servers shouldn’t be allowed to touch personal property, let alone barter it from you when you so obviously don’t want to give it up. I don’t even know what his name was. The cooks called him Michael, and he initialed our tickets MB, but he was wearing a name tag that read “Sam.” Maybe he got his name tag the same way he got his new phone...
Read moreMarcus and Dee, along with the nice lady sweeping outside who took the time to welcome me on the way toward the building when I first arrived. They made this trip to this Waffle House a winner. Dee was my waitress. Great smile and fun personality. I asked her if I could alter the menu, substituting the salad for a couple eggs over medium, with that Pork Cbop and hash browns offering, and it was "no problem. We can do that". Now to Marcus. My food was cooked perfectly. Dont know about you folks, but it seems like asking for over medium eggs ...its like hit or miss if you are actually going to get over medium.... Not with Marcus though. The eggs were as they should be, the pork chops were seasoned well and tasted very good. The hashbrowns were fresh as well. All That made this stop, at this Waffle House, the right place to get my meal. Dee kept the coffee topped off and the conversation fun. I will add that the restaurant was quite clean.
I would not hesitate to stop here again, next time through Tupelo. I hope to see Marcus and Dee there as well, as they seem to be the spirit that inhabits this place. Thank you to whoever hired these two. They...
Read moreCame here to eat supper after going to Winter Jam. The waitress was new, but she was professional and doing her very best. They were very busy (we weren't the only ones who showed up from winter jam that night) so we did have to wait about 30 minutes to get a booth. We were promptly served after being seated. The cook did a wonderful job preparing our meal even though he was being slammed with orders. Everything was cooked and delivered exactly how we ordered it. My husband and I like over medium eggs (where the white is COMPLETELY cooked through, but yolk still runny) but nowhere we go can ever get then right. So I ordered scrabbled with mine. My husband took a leap of faith and ordered over medium. THIS COOK GOT THEM PERFECT YALL!! This waffle house is by far the best one we have been to in a long time. If every WH could have the team they had that night working daily, they'd be doing a lot better. I wish I had got their names so I could let their higher ups know what an amazing Job their...
