El Rosal #3 — Restaurant in Turlock

I've had some good meals here in the past, but the last two times I've been here the food service has been extremely slow. Table service is always good. Kitchen needs help. I can get good tacos anywhere , but when you have to wait 30 minutes to get them, I can go somewhere else. Tonight I ordered the pork chops and jumbo shrimp. The waitress said the chops were the size of your palm, which they were but I swear they were only 1/4 " thick. Tough and dry as a bone. I couldn't even cut one with the steak knife they gave me. Jumbo shrimp was just average shrimp, and again over cooked. My wife had two pork tacos with green sauce. She said they were good, and they were, but again, I can get good tacos anywhere in half the time. Turlock has many fine Mexican restaurants. This is not one anymore. We won't be coming back. Worst experience in a restaurant. First off, the pepper flakes shaker top came off and dumped ALL of the pepper in my suegras pozole. 3 different waitresses asked what happened, yet not one of them got a manager or apologized for it. We had to ask for another pozole for her. Second, we had to ask for limones and tortillas and drinks several times before we got them. I will say that they would ask if we needed anything and when we asked for something they seemed to get “lost” Third, once I got the bill this all became a joke. The total I got was different than what was charged. When I asked why they simply said there’s a paper on the door explaining this. The waitress had no idea why it was like that and just came up with a story.

Let me just start by saying that we almost walked out after waiting approximately 7 minutes to be seated. It’s kind of ridiculous that you have 1-2 waitresses, a bunch of “runners” and no hostess to greet, seat or thank you for your business. I’m very big on customer service and I felt that this restaurant is severely lacking in this area. Once seated, We literally ate “chips and salsa” for dinner because the food took so long to receive. We did order a bean dip, which was soupy and not impressive. Our drinks were filled appropriately, but we were not super impressed. I ordered Pollo a La Mexicana (one of my favorite dishes), and the chicken was tough and not tender at all. Overall the meal was disappointing and subpar.
