Pho 7 - Turlock, CA: Highly Disappointing Experience

We were genuinely looking forward to enjoying Pho 7 in Turlock, but unfortunately, it was a letdown. This wasn’t our first trip there—we had tried it once before and left unsatisfied. Thinking they might have had an off day, we decided to give them another chance today, but the experience was no better.

The spring rolls were not to our liking. The pork used in them resembled dry, sliced lunch meat that seemed like it had been sitting out for too long. The rolls contained whole lettuce leaves and lacked the typical bean sprouts, which was disappointing. To make matters worse, the peanut sauce was overly watery and far from the thick, flavorful dip we’re accustomed to.

The wonton soup was another disappointment. The wontons had a strange taste, unlike any we’ve experienced before—and not in a good way.

I ordered the vegetarian pho and was equally disappointed. The soup contained very minimal vegetables, which made it feel incomplete and unsatisfying.

I specifically asked the staff to include extra limes in the bag for my pho, but they forgot. When I called to address this, the person I spoke with was unnecessarily rude, which added to the frustration.

To top it all off, for just two soups and one order of spring rolls (which only came with two rolls), we were charged $50. This was a definite waste of money for food that fell far below expectations.

Sunday evening, we sat ourselves as instructed from the lady yelling across the room. A couple minutes later and a group of 4 came in and sat themselves also. They were waited on after 10 minutes or so. We remained sitting for a little over 20 minutes without anyone coming to get our drinks, order or acknowledging us in any way. Then a waiter came and took a big order for the table next to us and the table who came in behind us received their food, we decided to leave at that point. We ended us going to Friendly house on Geer and had their Wonton Noodle soup and it was Amazing!! They sat us and took our drink order right away, was extremely friendly and we got our order within minutes. I think We are going to another Pho place from now on. This place is very unprofessional. I almost never go out of my way to waste my time to write a review, but this is the fourth time this has happened to us just this year. Don’t get me wrong, I have written a review on them before on how amazing their food is, and I stand by it. Except for the fact that they close randomly without leaving a voice message when you cal to notify they have closed early or just closed for the day altogether. This place is my husband’s and I favorite place to eat, but when you live 45 mins away it is very frustrating when you check the website to make sure they are open, call ahead and no indication that they are closed. They always close when there is a big sports game happening that they do not want to miss.
