I’ll start with the service. The servers were very friendly and attentive. They get 4 stars. The food was not good at all. I ordered New Orleans beignets. The first thing I noticed is they forgot the powdered sugar. Beignets come COVERED in powdered sugar and can taste plain without it. The next thing I noticed was the pool of oil sitting under the beignets. Apparently they weren’t drained properly. They were also fried in low temp oil because the beignets themselves were very oily. Now let’s get to the taste. You can’t fry beignets in oil that’s been used for other fried foods. Beignets will pick up the taste of anything that’s been in the oil, so while the compote was sweet, the beignets had this odd savory after-taste. I also had crab-cake eggs Benedict. I don’t have the energy to get into everything that was wrong with the crab-cakes but I left them on my plate. Huckleberrys can be very puzzling. The quality of food will vary from location to location because no one (corporate?) bothers to check food standards for consistency, and a restaurant who isn’t pulling its weight can bring down an entire chain. For instance, the Fresno area has three Huckleberrys, but only one of them consistently serves great food. It’s also in a wealthier area of town and would quickly go out of business if food wasn’t cooked to perfection. I don’t know if anyone has said this to corporate, but they need to take pride in every every...
Read moreThis my second time to a Huckleberry’s , first one was at Livermore ca grand opening or shortly after, I was not Fan ! The service was 3 out 10 at best and food was mediocre. After that did not have any reason to visit a huckleberry again , then this morning my wife and I was at Turlock Ca to take our dog to the vets near a Huckleberry restaurant and we had a few hours to kill and was really hungry so I was either am/pm arco microwave burritos or Huckleberry! Upon walking into Huckleberry we was meet by a host named Ryan a tall 6 plus young strapping fella with a smile and an energetic attitude and greeted us and sat us right away. Ryan got us our drinks and told us our server would be right with us . April our beautiful server greeted us and took our order with such pleasant demeanor. Both my wife and I both been in the hospitality business in our younger years and was very impressed by how well we were both being treated 10plus ! The food was actually very good! Not what I expected!. I am sorry but I forgot to mention the food runner whom brought our dish’s to us was also just a bell ! I am now a big fan at Huckleberry at Turlock Ca . Great job everyone and really thank you for a very pleasant dining experience!...
Read moreSo I like to eat at little mom-and-pop restaurants due to the fact that I feel that they offer better food and prices for what they offer. But today my experience kind of was a bit unnerving and what i noticed. I came to have a late lunch with my son since i came to visit my daughter which lives close by. There was a very tall white gentleman who wasn't wearing a mask while he was walking around in the restaurant (who was working behind the counter) and also the staff that was in the kitchen that was cooking the food was also not wearing mask while they were cooking. It jist threw my whole experience out the window..when i sat down my gut feeling was telling me to just get up and walk out with my son...but my son was enjoying his strawberry lemonade i didn't want to just leave without paying for my sons drink..so we ordered anyway...the food my son ordered was good mine wasn't as what i would of expected...putting employees and guests at risk for the lil bit of what i ordered was not worth it...i take this whole sickness regardless if its a cold to anything else very serious this is sad and upsetting for me to even see anyone out in public sick and not being serious about being sick and keeping everyone...
