TOTALLY DELICIOUS LUNCH ! My wife and I love Vietnamese food but sadly there is nothing anywhere near us in Solana Beach. But it's a different story in Irvine with quality Vietnamese eateries everywhere. We were up this way most of Saturday checking out stuff. It had to be a late lunch and we chose this place because they featured BANH MI SANDWICHES...our fav. We pulled up in the parking lot at 2.10pm and headed straight in. Mmmm...very neat well presented interior layout. I figured straight away these guys must have a number of locations. AND I WAS RIGHT ! They have 6. We lined up to place our lunch order at the cashier counter. A young female cashier wearing a mask ( as were all the staff ) helped us with....1 x GRILLED PORK BANH MI & I X FRIED SHRIMP BANH MI. We asked for cups of water and the cashier offered us iced waters. THANK YOU ! All their Banh Mi sandwiches are served on a freshly baked Baguette topped with pate, mayo, touch of soy sauce, shredded pickled carrots, daikon radishes, fresh cilantro, crispy cucumber and thinly sliced jalapeños. We both used the bathroom after getting the code off the cashier.....nice clean bathroom ! There wasn't a real lot of seating inside.....it looked like they were in transition mode with their indoor seating. There were a few barstools lining the window countertop facing the parking lot. We nailed 2 of those. Within a few short minutes our number was called and I was handed our wrapped lunch orders by the guy in the prep area. When we unwrapped our Banh Mi Sandwiches we could see there was no shortage of fresh fillings. My wife's Fried Shrimp Banh Mi Sandwich looked incredible...literally bulging with succulent fried shrimp. OUR VERY FRESH & SOFT BAGUETTES made everything taste even better. SO GOOD ! My wife loved her Fried Shrimp Banh Mi Sandwich so much...I have never seen her demolish a sandwich that big. To say we were impressed with our scrumptious lunch would be an understatement. Fast helpful service, delicious ingredients inside a pillowy soft fresh baked baguette and sensational value....
Read moreTheir food is ok but most of their services are terrible like most Vietnamese places I have been to. They lack common courtesy, good manners, and decency. I was hoping this would be different but it was not. The ones on Brookhurst and Edinger are much worse and should be shut down. Their chicken is very dry and chalky that you could barely eat them, whether they are in soups or on sandwiches. Their beef lemongrass is actually pork but they try to deceive you into thinking it’s beef. One would know if they are eating beef or not. When they were confronted about it, they still lie to your face about it so shamelessly. The place is really crowded without spaces to stand and wait for your food and the seating is poorly organized. Most of them don’t speak or understand English well. They should hire more kind, courteous, English speaking staff because they are not only serving Vietnamese people. I notice many people ordering first and getting their foods last after waiting for long periods, which really frustrated them. I called in ahead of time, but when I got there, I had to reorder because they didn’t make my food! The place is not that clean either, but that’s common in Vietnamese places. All the men there are nice but some of the women there are very rude with bad attitudes for no good reasons. Why are they serving others if they don’t have any common sense of decency like decent human beings should? It’s disgusting behavior from some of those nasty women. Because of their bad services, I have no desire to go back there or any other Vietnamese place for that matter. They seem to take better care of their Vietnamese customers more as if they are their first priorities. Other non Vietnamese people who don’t speak Vietnamese wait longer for their foods, even if their foods are simple quick ones to prepare. It’s unacceptable. They think that just because their foods are fairly good and cheap that their bad services don’t matter. WRONG! They should all be shut down. There are better...
Read moreSENSATIONAL VALUE ! It doesn't have to be fancy to be great and who doesn't love a well made BANH MI Sandwich ! My wife and I headed straight here on Saturday after our visit to the Irvine Farmers Market. While my wife parked our wheels I headed inside around 12.30pm to order our lunch. THE JOINT WAS SLAMMED ! And that is because the food here..at least everything we have tried on our many lunch visits is really good and priced to please. My wife arrived and nabbed a couple of barstools at the high counter top at the back while I stood in line. My turn came pretty quickly and I ordered 1 x THAI ICED TEA, 2 x ICED WATERS, 1 x GRILLED PORK BANH MI Sandwich, 1 x FRIED SHRIMP BANH MI Sandwich. I paid and received my numbered receipt. A worker in the open front kitchen will call out our number when our lunch order is ready. We are always amazed at how quick they are able to get the food out. It didn't take too long and I picked up our iced waters and Thai Iced Tea followed soon after by our neatly wrapped Banh Mi Sandwiches. TOO EASY ! All this for under $20. My wife loved her delicious Grilled Pork Banh Mi Sandwich made on a freshly baked pillowy soft baguette. This was my first time trying the Fried Shrimp Banh Mi Sandwich...again on a freshly baked pillowy soft baguette. It tasted great but I think I prefer the grilled pork...
