Have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth after visiting ETX tonight. Me and my fiancé have been multiple times before and even been to Christmas parties here. Vibes are good, food is good, but after tonight I’m realizing that maybe it’s going downhill mainly with their service.

We ordered 2 beers, 2 burgers, and a large fry. It ran us about 46 dollars (BEFORE tip) it was one of those ipad tippings so I tipped but not the 20% recommended because it’s counter service.

We get our food and I ask ‘could I get some ranch?’ And she asks if our tab is open and I say no and she says okay well it’s 54 cents… I understand charging for lots of extra sauces or if we hadn’t ordered very much food but we paid around 50 dollars for our meal & tipped & are being asked at our table for 54 cents for a darn tiny cup of ranch?! It’s just a little stingy for my taste. I remember multiple times getting the ranch and never been asked to pay before. I went ahead and declined the ranch for 54 cents.

Soon after this interaction, I realized there was no sauce on my Porch burger! Darn. Also, the irony! Had to go up to the same person and ask for the porch burger sauce because it was forgotten on my burger.

Maybe they’re cracking down on sauces. Maybe it was the employee. Idk, but either way I’m not sure we...

Went here about a year back when they had changed out thier kitchen and did not like the food i Went in for lunch again because a friend had recommended it and i wanted to believe it may have improved. 14 dollars and tax for a chicken sandwich that was worse than mcdonald's. The bun was far too big, dry, and untoasted. The chicken patty tasted good but had no breading and was twice as small as the bun. The spicy fried pickles were ok, but far from spicy, just black pepper and salt. The only food that was as expected was the cheese curds, which were quite good. I also must complain that they ask for a tip but don't really do anything to earn it, they give you a buzzer to come up and grab your own food and then we had to come up to the counter to ask for refills. It would be different if the soda machine was accessible but it's behind the counter. I do like to tip, but there needs to be service with it, or else I feel cheated. I hope they improve because I really used to enjoy coming here but it has since changed and there's no reason for me to come here anymore. I only judge so harshly because i knew how it was, and i know what it could be. (As a side note, the beer is good, but I was so terribly disappointed with lunch that it didn't...

short: I'd recommend giving it a try if you are downtown on S. Broadway by the Austin Bank building. long: granddaughter had an appointment in the area, and my wife and I decided to go to a coffee shop up the street. it was raining and cold, so when we got halfway and saw ETX Brewing, we decided to stop and give it a try. both my wife and I like the atmosphere based on 5:00pm - 5:45pm on a Thursday night. the place has a classic home-town feel to it with some wooden tables that sport chess boards. the decor is simple but nice and effective for a local feeling establishment. music played that was not overwhelming in volume. We had the Nachos tray, which was actually quite delicious. they did not skimp on cheese and also had a nice amount of jalapeños to boot. My wife had a soda that (because this does matter) was calibrated well. my unsweet iced tea was good as well. over-all we enjoyed our little visit and are going back on Thursday to try something else there. extra: they have two pool tables, and it appears from their small stage that they do have live music at times. The place is large and roomy on Thursdays at 5:00pm. have not yet been there other times It was nice to see a small Xmas party with adults...

ETX Brewing has potential, but right now it feels like more style than substance. The highlight of the visit was, without question, the staff, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. I also appreciated the ability to choose from two flight sizes, which made sampling a variety of beers easy and approachable. Unfortunately, the beer selection didn’t quite match the vibe. A few brews stood out, particularly the Dunkel and the 1846, but those were the exceptions. The tap list leaned too heavily into niche, boutique-style beers that felt more experimental than refined. The Mexican lager was decent, but that’s hard to get wrong. The stouts were underwhelming, light-bodied and lacking depth, and the Black IPA felt confused, unsure of what it wanted to be. Skull Blossom was the biggest disappointment, though it may have been the end of the keg. The food didn’t redeem the visit. I ordered the chicken nuggets, great sauce, especially the ranch, but the meat was fatty and unappealing. For the price, it missed the mark. ETX has a great location and strong staff, so I’d give it another shot down the line, hopefully when the tap list is a bit more balanced.

Wow, ETX Brewing Company really impressed us! They brew a wide variety of beers in-house, and you can taste the craft in every sip. We stopped by on a hot day for a cold beer and ended up staying longer than planned. The staff was super friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations and even letting us sample a few brews before deciding. We ordered the brined wings and the Three Pigs snack—both were flavorful and hit the spot perfectly with the drinks. The wings had just the right balance of seasoning, and the Three Pigs was a fun, meaty shareable. The beer list is extensive, with something for everyone, from hoppy IPAs to smooth stouts and everything in between. The vibe inside is laid-back and lively, with good music and a fun crowd. Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just looking for a relaxed place to hang out, ETX is a great pick. It’s definitely a spot we’ll return to when in the area again. Bonus points for the welcoming atmosphere and attention to detail in both drinks and food!
