The Porch at ETX — Restaurant in Tyler

Have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth after visiting ETX tonight. Me and my fiancé have been multiple times before and even been to Christmas parties here. Vibes are good, food is good, but after tonight I’m realizing that maybe it’s going downhill mainly with their service.

We ordered 2 beers, 2 burgers, and a large fry. It ran us about 46 dollars (BEFORE tip) it was one of those ipad tippings so I tipped but not the 20% recommended because it’s counter service.

We get our food and I ask ‘could I get some ranch?’ And she asks if our tab is open and I say no and she says okay well it’s 54 cents… I understand charging for lots of extra sauces or if we hadn’t ordered very much food but we paid around 50 dollars for our meal & tipped & are being asked at our table for 54 cents for a darn tiny cup of ranch?! It’s just a little stingy for my taste. I remember multiple times getting the ranch and never been asked to pay before. I went ahead and declined the ranch for 54 cents.

Soon after this interaction, I realized there was no sauce on my Porch burger! Darn. Also, the irony! Had to go up to the same person and ask for the porch burger sauce because it was forgotten on my burger.

Maybe they’re cracking down on sauces. Maybe it was the employee. Idk, but either way I’m not sure we...

My husband and I had high hopes for the food here but it was sadly lacking. My husband got a burger which was a nice size but did lack flavor. The burger had an egg on it and he told them he wanted the yoke to be runny but instead got a very cooked yoke that completely ruined the reason he got the egg on the burger. The fried onions were the best thing on the burger taste wise. I got the mac and cheese. I like alot of cheese in my mac and cheese but there was more cheese than mac and the cheese was so thick, not creamy at all. It was not appetising at all, I only ate a few bites of it. They only have bottled soft drinks, they are not a normal 20 oz bottle they are smaller I am guess they are 16 oz but not totally sure, so we assumed no refils when you run out of your bottle but not totally sure. Took about 30 min to get our food so therefore did not want to send any of it back and have to wait another 30 min. I understand this place has not been open long so hopefully they...

I'm typing this as I sit here at The Porch at ETX. We put in our order at 7:21. It has been an hour and we are just starting to get out food. We ordered a burger, cheese curds, and nachos. The nachos and cheese curds are cold as if they have been sitting for quite some time even though our buzzer just went off to go get them from the counter. We asked the employees where the burger is hoping to finally get to eat and no one seemed to know what was going on. The staff needs better training and clear expectations for how long food is going to take should be set. This was my boyfriend and I's first time here and based on our experience it will be the last. Would not recommend this place to anyone looking to purchase more than a beer. Go to McDonald's instead, you will get better customer service and food at a much faster rate.
