It is just perfect yummy good old-fashioned southern food. Everything we tried was delicious and the food was served hot & fresh off The buffet. The buffet offers a lot of different options from meatloaf, Fried Chicken, smothered porkchops, hamburger steaks, mashed potatoes with gravy, Greens, cabbage, fried okra and so many other yummy yummy foods. You also have the option of ordering off the menu if you so choose to. Save room for dessert because they have a bunch of yummy pies to please every Sweet Tooth you can imagine lol Staff is super friendly and they keep your drinks refilled, the restaurant is kept clean and most importantly the buffet area is always kept extremely clean. Price wise it's inexpensive for the amount of food you're able to enjoy. Location is easy to get to and they have their own private parking lot. The only negative is they are not open late I think they close about 2:00 p.m.

A little off the beaten path, you pull up to this vintage set building with its dated decore and aged format, but wait... We were greeted by smiling faces who informed us to sit where we like, so we chose a booth with our waitress right at our side asking for our drink order. Smiling, she repeated our drink request and departed to fill the order as we headed to the buffet for our meal. The food is all homemade, hot and tasty! The desserts are made fresh, a large variety, and delicious! Worthy of any fork! Everything was clean and tidy, the staff all busy, helpful and smiling made for a very enjoyable lunch. Recommend this establishment that has been making it happen for over 70 years!

I'm in Heaven 😇 !! The quintessential Southern buffet; so many pies 🥧 you can't choose!!! If you yearn for comfort food 😋, they have you covered! The homemade Chicken 🐔 Pot Pie, Chicken & Dumplings, Fried Catfish, Fried Chicken, Liver & Onions, (the list goes on & on) are just as good as the country style veggies! Service is fantastic and the price extremely reasonable! They have learned how to "do it right" because they have been "doin it" since 1949!

It wasnt what I expected. The buffet wasnt in service due to covid-19. Despite that being my primary interest in coming to this restaurant, it did not affect my rating. It wasn't their fault that the buffet had to be shut down.

I'll start with the service. Our waitress was Maria. It's rare that I find myself commenting on how much I enjoy having somebody wait on me. We didn't talk a great deal, but that was part of the impressive nature of her service. She literally had me smiling every time she came to the table. I don't know about the other servers, but if I were rating just on my experience with Maria, this would be a 4 to 5 star review.

As for the food, I was not overly impressed with the chicken fried steak. It was okay, but I've had better. The mashed potatoes we're excellent house was the gravy. In fact, the gravy really made the meal. I have to say I personally liked their take on fried okra, because I never seen a restaurant serve whole okra deep fried. My companion did not care for that true, as he does not typically like whole okra.

In all, I found the restaurant unimpressive. I'm not likely to return unless it's to try the buffet oh, and to be honest I would probably still prefer our local Golden Corral. Our Golden Corral here is very good, despite being a chain. And I find that the food quality there was probably a notch above what I got here.

If you want a very deep east Texas feel, this restaurant is alright. But for the price, I would probably spend my...

The prices are way to high for the quality of food. It was edible but not worth the $40 we spent, which included the tip, so our actual meals were over $17 each. I got 2 pieces of smothered chicken parts, (they were seriously unidentifiable) a side of yams and a side of Mac & cheese, plus a roll and one canned drink. Oh and a BITE size "slice" of chocolate pie. That was the entire meal for over $17. I did not get seconds. I am a senior and between 2-4 pm I can eat at golden corral with a selection 10 times as much as this place offers for 7.49 INCLUDING a large drink with unlimited refills. Granted, it's golden corral, but apples to apples, golden corral wins for price, selection, quantity and believe it or not, even quality. Plus we are able to serve ourselves again at golden corral. Standing in a cafeteria style line at this place, with the limited amount of space available, is beyond ridiculous. Texas has reopened every where but here! I don't normally compare a place to another place, but in this case, the food at each restaurant the same type with both touting homemade style eatery in a buffet style setting. We won't be returning to...
