Worst experience I've had at a bar ever. This past weekend, my girlfriend and I went out with her sister and boyfriend to celebrate the sister's birthday. We didnt complain when we entered the bar, and literally most of the empty tables there had dirty drinks all over them, we found the best semi clean table we could find then when we got our menus the girl that attended us gave us 3 menus when clearly she could see we were 4 guests. Ok, no big deal, my girlfriend spotted a menu at one of the dirty tables for me to grab. We ask if we can order some food cause we saw a guy in the kitchen area, we were told it wasn't available anymore which is understandable, if you want food you have to go early. When we got our drinks, the girls drinks were not mixed properly and when they took their first sip they said it was hella strong, then as they kept drinking it got better, again didn't complain cause this night was about having fun. My drink, the presidente, tasted bad. Again, no complaints because this is about giving the sister an experience (she had never been to a speakeasy). But because I didn't like the drinks I simply asked for our tab, came out to be $30+ for my girlfriend's and I, which I was happy to pay, heck I even got charged extra for paying with a credit card. But the straw that broke the camel's back; the girl that made our drinks had the audacity to come over to our table. The sister was tasting my drink cause I was struggling to finish it and she made a face when taking a sip, cause it was bad, but when the girl asked how our drinks were we didn't complain cause we are above disrespecting someone'swork. My girlfriend simply said it'll get us drunk so it's ok. Then this girl said "well we work hard to make these drinks, we do not deserve to be only tipped 26 cents".... like seriously? If you want to demand money get a better job, ask for a raise (the owner sure is getting paid well for these $15 drinks), heck maybe start by doing your job properly. This is gratuity, you don't deserve a darn thing especially after everything we went through. This was highly embarrassing, but guess what, we didn't complain cause we were not about to get into an altercation on this special occasion. We simply didn't answer her request and walked out. However, I had to write this review to warn people of this bar!!!!!!!!!⚠️⚠️⚠️
P.S. we went to Rick's afterwards which is literally down the street. It is very roomy (thats one thing i didnt like about the speakeasy, good decorations but too cramped for my liking), clean place cause their waiters constantly walk around to get the dirty cups 😏 much better drinks and at a better price, then they have live music to top it off. Go there, thank me later 😌 Yes, they got a nice tip there for doing a good job, which they earned but...
Read moreI'm a Tyler native that moved away. Anytime I come back home to visit, I will be at this spot. Their happy hour pizzas are top notch! The wait staff are phenomenal and funny. They match the vibe you give out. On any given day, you will have customers from age 21 to age 70. I know it's hard to please everyone but they do an amazing job catering to all. The drinks are quite inventive, but quite good! I'd say if you are typically a jack daniels neat kind of person, this place might not be for you. Their alcohol leans towards the higher end including hard to find ones so please take note. As for the prices. They are a little higher than the surrounding Tyler bars, but this is not a "I'm just here to get a drink" place. This is a date night, this is a "let's show my friends the cool spots of Tyler," this is a "I want to try something new" spot.
The tenders are quite knowledgeable! Shout out to Reagan for suggesting new drinks! Don't be afraid to tell the staff if the drink is not to your liking. They want you to be happy. I'll be back...
Read moreI’ve been around the country, and everywhere I go I drink (daddy issues) and let me tell you The Plaid Rabbit is fantastic! I hadn’t been to Tyler in a decade or more and was shocked to find such a high caliber speak easy in the heart of East Texas! Reagan the bartender was absolutely incredible! Not only did she craft me impeccable cocktail after impeccable cocktail but she single handedly convinced me to go to grad school and block my Ex’s number! Thanks to Reagan and The Plaid Rabbit I have a whole new lease on life and I’ve lost 10 pounds! If it weren’t for this bar and its amazing staff, who knows where I’d be? In some other bar? Probably. But it wouldn’t hold a candle to my leporine heaven! Next time you’re in Tyler check this place out and have a drink (or 8)! You...
