Ever tried to find a bakery in a town you are not familiar with and want to impress the people you are having dinner with in a couple of hours? The challenge was on! Another search tool kind of helped and was 0 for 2 at first. It was looking grim. Third time WAS a charm and oh how amazingly charming the third stop was! This is a relatively old and well known to the local population bakery! It isn't cheap and the product is worth every penny paid! The staff is friendly, but were a tad standoffish to us foreigners to Tyler. After all, us folks from Dallas can be a wee bit off-putting. However, the staff learned of our challenge to find the perfect dessert and pointed us to the chiller display case where one of the most beautiful German Chocolate cakes these cake fattened eyes have ever seen! (Some quick history... German Chocolate Cake is not German but was created using chocolate created by Samuel German for Baker's Chocolate in 1852. This chocolate was Baker's German's Sweet Chocolate. However the coconut and pecan iced chocolate cake using Baker's chocolate first appeared in a recipe in the Dallas Morning News in 1957 by Mrs George Clay of East Dallas. The rest is myth and history :) ) There are also many wonderful baked items such as breads, cookies and cupcakes that had me gaining weight by just breathing. As for this cake, it wowed the hosts and their family for days! Way to go Village Bakery !!

This is difficult to only leave 2 stars because we love this bakery and have ordered every special occasion cake we needed from them for the past few years. It unfortunately happened for our Mother’s birthday cake, but we picked it up on Saturday and “Mama” was spelled MOMMA. My wife was a bakery manager with Brookshires for quite a while, so when she orders a cake, she is extremely explicit with spelling, as she was in the day when she took cake orders. In fact, she made a point to tell the girl on the phone taking the order not to feel disrespected for spelling “Mama” out for her. When we picked up the cake, and saw the mistake, we asked for it to be fixed and were told there was not a decorator there and they are about to close. (I realize they DO close at 2pm on Saturdays, which does not make sense to me but it’s not my bakery) So, we had to take the cake, as our Mother’s birthday dinner was in a few hours. Sooooo disappointing that they would/could not fix the cake. On a positive note, the cake was absolutely delicious, as usual, and I am sure I will use them again, unless we find another bakery with cakes as good.

My babyshower cake was SO beautiful, I loved it so much! Although, I didn’t even get to try the vanilla side, because of greed at my shower. I definitely would like to order my elopement cake here at village bakery. the chocolate side was so moist and soft and yummy.. OMG I just know that the vanilla side would have been EVEN BETTER! I may need to order a personal cake just for me and dad to try. Dad didn't even get a slice of cake which is sad. We definitely had enough cake for everybody (I just think it was that good) and of course people took some to-go without our consent. Also we had come into town from Arkansas, and didn’t have any to take back with us. This cake feeds up to 90 people, it was about 50-65 people there, PLENTY OF CAKE! When my mom placed the order she told me to call back and give them details on how I wanted it decorated.. the pictures match what I wanted, the bakers did an amazing job, it looked exactly how I visioned it. Simple quick process, I told them I wasn’t “boujie” just wanted it to taste good and look good, and they NAILED IT!! ✨🎉🎉 Definitely WILL be recommending this company..

I called and placed an order for an Italian Crème Cake on Wednesday morning for pickup on Saturday. The cake was for my mom's 75 birthday. I ordered the cake without pineapple as my sister is allergic to pineapple - and Italian Crème cakes don't normally come with pineapple filling. Hummingbird cakes - yes; Italian Creme cakes, no.

Beth from the bakery called me at 1:22 on Friday to tell me that all of the cakes are pre-set up and already had pineapple. I explained that I couldn't have the cake with pineapple and that's why I called ahead to order the custom cake. She basically said that I would have to take the cake that way because that's the way they make them. Then she said that she would have the owner call me. The owner called - was extremely rude - and explained that they ...

BAKE ALL THEIR CAKES ON TUESDAY REGARDLESS OF WHAT DAY YOU ARE PICKING IT UP!!! O_O

She said because they only bake cakes on Tuesdays, that all the Italian Creme cakes were already set up with pineapple. This means I would have received a four-day old cake when I picked it up on Saturday. Need a cake on Monday? It's a SIX-DAY OLD CAKE.

That isn't fresh in anyone's book. What a shame. I thought I had found a delightful little bakery in my new town. But customer service apparently isn't the owner's strong suit. She followed up her telephone rudeness by responding to my Facebook review with a false accusation that I shouted at her on the phone. I'm sure she will do the same here.

Thankfully, another bakery is coming through for my mom for...

I went here because my favorite all time store closed down "Chez Bazan," I was trying to be open to coming back to this venue again after years of slamming that door, but yet again after two separate incidents nothing had changed. The first initial incident the cake baker told me to wait so rudely, like I was a dog so she could talk to her Ad representative: isn't the reason for Ad space to build customers which I basically was and you made wait? I kept my money that day, and gave 400$ worth of party business to someone else. On this last encounter the owner looked at me like I was trash when I was buying a Birthday cake. She asked for the spelling of the child's name and when it was given to her and because the child's name was rather ethnic and non traditional she raised her eyes in disgust and walked away to ice the cake. When she was done she placed cake in box and snatched my money from my hands. I do not believe this woman liked dealing with ethnic people, when you look around her shop there are smiling "Caucasian " faces , no different races on the walls, I guess other races don't enjoy bakery goods. Good luck shoppers. Hope you have a...
