Amazing unique vegetarian foods. Great ruben and hot pastrami sands.. Salads are ample unique and above all else tasty! Real ingredients and healthy preparations due to no deep fryer . They have good soups that are wonderful during cold weather that are made from scratch. I always have dessert carrot cake and cobblers are the best. Worth a visit for the carrot cake alone! Its a kind of noisy , crowded, order at the counter, type place, at least during peak lunch hour but the food makes it worth it. Breaksfast is served at the table though with freindly casual service and top notch omlettes. Good place for special diets like for weight management, heart issues or if you need soft foods because of dental issues. There's something here to make everyone in the family happy no matter how different their diet needs and tastes are without breaking the bank. Perfect place to try vegetarian foods, even if you dont think youll like them because they are so good here that youll actually order them happily over a meat dishes. Theyre so full flavored and satasfying. I find myself craving their unique salads and pasta dishes which tofu can always be substituted for the chcken. The tofu is really great, marinated in the tastiest sauce ever! This is not your typical vegie-fare. Its not dry or bland or unfilling at all. Its amazing and the reason theyve been around so long when most restaurants fail within a year. If youve never tried ellies youre really missing out! Best place in town for simple. filling, reasonably priced foods that will leave you feeling you make a good decision for yourself, your wallet, and your...

First time here and never again. Honestly the only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one because of the service, our server was so attentive, nice and awesome plus the location is kinda convenient the food was not impressive I ordered tofu and rice platter ($11) it came like a casserole platter that you would get from Denny's. It's was brown calrose rice, chunks of salty soft tofu with bunches of sad looking broccoli, carrot and mushrooms top with choice of sour cream or Greek yogurt (I did ask for yogurt) melted cheese and spring onion. The taste was far beyond gross.

My son had bacon cheese hot dog $5 he also got sad pathetic looking bun with hotdog tiny thin sliced of bacon and again unmelted cheese with nothing else that come with no chip or fries

My husband has veggies Ruben sandwich $11 which he seems pretty enjoy it I honesty never ever experienced plain, simply made sandwiches this price that served without fries.

Honestly for the price and the quality of food it doesn't really worth it most of the dishes have the same ingredients blop of sour cream, shredded cheese and green onion. The way they present the food is like someone that too lazy to cook.

It was so unfortunate that we live so close, from reading all the positive reviews from local people we hope that this place might be our favorite place to eat but turn out to be the biggest...

The food is good, but the service is terrible. The staff members are polite, but sadly incompetent and slow. The business also exhibits what I would consider unethical, shady business practices. Once our food was delivered, our waitress never came back to check on us. We waited a long time and essentially felt abandoned. The table next to us was the same. The waitress delivered the wrong order to a couple and never came back. After being unable to get anyone's attention, the husband eventually took his wife's plate up to the counter and asked for the correct order. We had to go up ourselves to get a take out container and pay. When we did, the lady flipped the register tablet asking for a tip... Here's where it gets shady. On the tablet, it gives you 3 big button tip options going in what is typically reverse order everywhere else: you can either tip 25% (the leftmost option), 20% (the middle option) or 18% (the far right option). Then at the bottom is a much smaller option for custom tip. I bet a lot of seniors and visually impaired people push the 25% button thinking they're choosing 15%. Plus, I'm pretty sure the waitress charged us incorrectly. It seemed to be more expensive than it should have been. After waiting so long for any service, I didn't raise a fuss and ask to see an itemized bill, I just wanted to leave. We'll...

I moved to Ukiah 2 March 1986. The Mutt Hut was the first place I ate upon arriving. Their menu of hot dogs and polish were amazing and kept me coming back twice a week for many years. Now, 36 years later, I might dine here twice a year when visiting from out of town and sorry to say we've both gone down hill. To be fair, my wife's chicken avocado salad was a masterpiece in every way. But the items that started it all - the hot dogs and polish - are a sorry shadow of what they used to be. The polish bacon cheese dog was barely as advertised: a skinny polish that was dry and lacked classic polish flavor; maybe a tablespoon of finely shredded cheddar, two pieces of tomato heel and one dark, crispy, thin, lonely piece of bacon (there were also two additional quater-sized pieces too). But there was an abundance of yellow mustard. Other than being a Mutt Hut customer, I actually owned and operated my own hot dog business as the Hot Dog Guy in neighboring Lakeport, CA from 2013-2015, serving a wide variety of premium dogs and polish while offering 27 toppings and other dishes too. My point is simply that I know about serving quality product with passion. Ellie's seems to have lost both. I'll be back to Ellie's, but never to eat a dog. Times change, but if you can't do something well then why do it at all?

Ellie's Mutt Hut is just a couple of blocks ahead.. he tells me, then he says.. we'll stop there and get the BBQ chicken...it's the best between SF and Garberville. Well, I was getting fuel in Eureka and this bubblehead asked me for a ride to Ukiah, said his mom's in the hospital there and needs him to take care of her dogs. So, I patted him down for drugs and weapons..he was clean, so I said okay, but watch your step or I'll end it for you right then and there, as I showed him Lil Thumper. We pulled into Ukiah and this Brain Surgeon wouldn't shut up about the chicken from Ellie's...this and that, and every which way but Sunday about that chicken. He already told me he didn't have any money, so I bought him that chicken...he was right, probably for the first time in his life..that chicken was Amazing! ☆☆☆☆☆
