Playa Azul is a gem of a Mexican cuisine restaurant that truly stands out not just for its delicious food but also for the warmth and kindness of its owners and staff. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile and genuine hospitality that made us feel right at home. The family who runs this restaurant clearly cares about their customers, providing quick and attentive service that is second to none.

The food at Playa Azul is nothing short of amazing. I ordered three tacos al pastor, and I was pleasantly surprised by their generous size and incredible flavor. Each taco was packed with savory goodness, making them both filling and satisfying. My dad opted for a burrito, which was equally impressive; it was hearty and delicious, leaving him more than satisfied.

Super down to earth people who make you feel at home. Great location with plenty of parking. The restaurant is in Union City. Its spacious, clean and decorated for the holidays. We took my dad here for his birthday as he loves Menudo. This spot offers it on the weekends. We ordered several bowls of menudo with granito and the hubby ordered chicken mole which was dark/rich. Great portions, everything tasted fresh and seasoned just right. They bring you toppings to add heat and extra flavor. The best part is their handmade tortillas. They make all the difference so make sure you place an order or two of those!! Staff was attentive and we learned about their family business. We were full but because it was a bday celebration we ordered some pie and homemade flan which were both amazing. My dad was happy and we were all soooo full. The host/owner mentioned they sometimes have mariachi so will have to come back/inquire what days. Overall, we were very happy we checked them out and we will definitely be back to support this family...

My husband and I stopped by Playa Azul on Memorial Day, and we were blown away by the quality of the food and the warm hospitality. From start to finish, everything was perfect.

We ordered the steak and shrimp plate—both were cooked to absolute perfection, tender and flavorful. I had the fried shrimp tacos, which were crispy and delicious, made even better by the homemade tortillas. We also tried the hibiscus iced tea (agua de jamaica), which was incredibly refreshing and perfectly balanced—not overly sweet like others we’ve tried.

The staff was equally impressive. May, our host and server, was so sweet and attentive. The owner, José Espinoza, and his son Maurice were both very kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. You can tell they truly care about their customers and take pride in their food.

We’ll definitely be coming back, and we highly recommend Playa Azul to anyone looking for authentic and flavorful Mexican food...
