-Review updated to drop one star-
Updating the review from a 5 to a 4 after a weird experience recently. We wanted to have the included protein on the side from the menu where you pick your ingredients. After being surprisingly told no, I did probe further about this and was told it has to be in the sauce. Huh? The owner then explained they were particular about their recipes and if we customized something but didnt like it, who would be to blame? Definitely a 180 from our initial experience here and I am still confused as to how a create your own dish cannot allow for protein on the side - (we were more than willing to pay extra and order it as a side). Disappointing experience but hey the food is still good.
First visit The owners greeted us and after learning it was our first time there, he took the time to explain the concept, recommend dishes and checked on us often to ensure we were having a great experience. Basically you pick your pasta, sauce, proteins, veggies etc. Then you sit down and wait for it to be brought to you. Side note: We thought the owners looked REALLY familiar and confirmed they also own Souvlaqueria and Icecreamology on each side of the restaurant.
The kiddos all had mac and cheese (my son rated this a 9.7, highest score he has given any version). It was a very creamy sauce that was held well with a fun pasta - creste di gallo.
We also had a flatbread with cheese and mushrooms- soft pillowy dough inside with perfectly charred edges and melty cheese.
The highlight for me was a dish I saw on google which looked like slightly charred pasta. I showed the owner the pic and he explained that it was the dish that the restaurant was named after. They “kill” the pasta by charring it and serve it with a spicy tomato sauce and parmesan topper. Um, sign me up! I absolutely destroyed it.
Great attentive service, we felt like we were family. Definitely going back and so happy to find a pasta spot that tastes fresh, comes out fairly fast and has enough variety to keep it new each time.
Oh and a tip- they make their own tiramisu and at their ice cream shop next door, there are some unique flavors like ice creams with saffron or baklava mixed in. Something...
Read moreI love Italian cuisine but recently having tried white table clothed Cara Mira in Millburn, NJ, I was disappointed (mediocre food with a big price tag, but that is another story for another day!). I searched yelp and found All' Assassina, The Killer Pasta Project, opened 8 mos ago and decided to give Italian another try. The restaurant interior design was casual with a really comfortable inviting atmosphere with an open concept. We tried their "design your own pasta" 1. La Creazione: Linguine w/ mushrooms, olives, broccoli rabe and tomatoes w/ marinara sauce. Next was their signature dishes, Piatti Firmati: 2. Carbonara Con Fungi and 3. Assassino + Figlia. Also a side of their garlic cheese flatbread (SO DELISH!). Their pasta is made fresh and it was cooked in their open kitchen, did I mention fresh pasta?!?! The food came out piping hot, the flavor and aroma of the pasta was simply divine. We met the owner, Marino, what an incredibly genuine and down to earth guy.! He also happens to own Souvlaqueria and Icecreamology, both next door! Price tag was under $20 a dish, reasonably priced and fair! My final words, who needs a white table cloth! Definitely a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at All' Assassina, and I can't express how delightful the experience was! Everything is homemade, which truly sets this place apart. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Marino, the owner. He was engaging and informative, providing valuable insights that helped guide our choices from the menu. The variety of options available was fantastic, making it hard to choose just one! I got a sneak peek of the Pinsa, and it looked and smelled absolutely amazing—definitely something I can't wait to try on my next visit.
Our server, Serena, was just as wonderful, bringing a sweet and inviting energy to our table. It's rare to feel such genuine hospitality, and it made our meal all the more enjoyable. I have to give a special mention to the pear salad; it was phenomenal! Each bite was a perfect blend of flavors that left my taste buds dancing. Thank you, All' Assassina, for such a memorable first experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of your...
