I really wanted to like Bagel & Beans, a 14-year old local business, but a couple of things totally turned me off once we picked-up our bagels and drove off. If you are here for a standard bagel and cream cheese - go for it! The bagels are top-notch and they put a healthy amount of cream cheese stuffing. I wanted an everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese. The folks manning the store are unaware that their jalapenos used in the jalapeno cream cheese are pickled and not fresh when we had called to confirm. Also, they failed to inform us on the phone that the jalapeno cream cheese is actually jalapeno CHEDDAR cream cheese - the absolute worst kind IMO. We only found out when we unwrapped the bagels at our destination. The kids running the store were lovely and so helpful.

As a first time person here- it was hard to navigate around the place to order. It’s not a place that accommodates to new comers. I felt like everyone knew what they want, there’s no menus, no pricing, just a bagel shop, chips, and spreads all displayed. They did have some advertising in the front for a cowboy wrap and some protein wrap- but I was confused, was that the only thing they offered? I ended up copying and pasting what someone else ordered and had a sausage egg and cheese with salt pepper ketchup on a plain bagel. The bagel was pretty damn good, it was soft and dense- wasn’t overbearing and was great. Everything in the sandwich was just perfect.

I thought the staff was nice. I’d driven a little further just to come here thinking I was gonna get the ā€œbest bagel in townā€ and was a bit disappointed. I felt like I was eating a day old bagel. It was a bit dense and the everything bagel was quite salty. I’m thinking they must specialize in breakfast sandwiches. Maybe it would be worth the while then…

Local customer here writing this review with the hopes that others speak up about the obvious decline in portions of ingredients on breakfast bagels. Why order a Taylor ham and egg sandwiches to get 2 slices of razor thin Taylor ham obviously sliced with a deli slicer. Disappointed, does the ownership team think a customer can’t see the obvious???

I’ve been a loyal customer of this local bagel shop, especially for their Taylor ham and egg sandwiches, which I used to enjoy.

Lately, though, the quality has really taken a nosedive. The last few times I ordered the Taylor ham and egg, I was shocked at how little Taylor ham was actually on the sandwich. What used to be a hearty, satisfying breakfast now feels more like bread with a hint of razor thin sliced meat. It’s disappointing and customers notice these shortcuts..

I understand times are tough and costs have gone up for everyone, but if the portion sizes are being cut back this much, customers at least deserve transparency or a price adjustment. Otherwise, it just feels like we’re being shortchanged. I’d rather pay more for a good taylor ham and egg sandwich.

I hope this is not the new normal. I want to keep supporting local, but it’s hard to justify coming back unless something changes. Owners step it up, your customers notice. If your slicing Taylor ham in a deli slicer and giving 2 razor thin slivers to your customers, you are...

So the bald head white guy in this establishment is very rude with poor customer service skills this is the second time me and my husband went to this establishment and was treated poorly.. We can be the only one standing at the register and he overlooks us... Today my husband went in today and stood se the register for at least 5 minutes until acknowledged by another worker while he was standing there.... We decided today to place the order before we came in... So the other worker said the food was ready... upon checking out the the bald headed white guy looked passed him talked to other people while they were coming in assisted another customer... So at this point this is blatant disrespect.... I'm not going to pull the race card because there are other blacks that frequent this establishment however I myself feel it is because it's all smiles to other with other customers..I lived in Union 15+ years and live in this area I've never experienced this before smh it's sad because everyone on this strip from Chestnut deli and on no us and will tell you we are great people smh and they know what we want as soon as we walk in because we are constant...

I come to this store very frequently as I do many other bagel stores throughout New Jersey because of work. Hands down the absolute worst customer service you can ever imagine. They are beyond slow, sometimes you will stand in like for 10 minutes with little to nobody in the store. I attempted to call four time’s to place my order and nobody answered, got here and told them I called four times and the girl said ā€œwe are busyā€ and walked away. Hilariously there is FOUR PEOPLE working behind the counter and TWO people doing the cooking. Anyone in line you talk to think it’s ridiculous with the customer service. The only thing this place has good going for itself is the fact that it is hands down the absolute cheapest in all of New Jersey for good quality food. If they ever raised prices they would probably lose most...
