This review is not regarding the hotel room/facilities. This is regarding the catering/room rental division. We were looking for a venue that would allow us to do outside catering for our wedding ceremony. Since we are of Guyanese decent we didn't want to go with a venue that made us 1. take their food or 2. use a specific caterer because they typically had traditional Indian cuisine which we do not all eat. Long story short we met with someone over a year before the event and they agreed to allow us to rent the room with tables ect and just agree to bring in our own food. We left a deposit and signed what we thought was a contract. The contact person changed 3 times and no one knew anything about our event each time we met. The lack of communication and professionalism was horrible. As our event approached we meet with venue to go over everything that was promised to us and had to pay more money than we were told in the initial meeting to ensure we received the services that were initially promised. We thought everything was worked out and we were all on the same page and they even offered me a room to use the night before the ceremony. We paid the extra money to ensure 1. we would have 3 servers because from the beginning that is what was promised to us. 2. we paid extra for them to clean the room after the event was over. 3. we would be able to use the facilities chafing dishes to hold the food and keep it warm. And still the day of the event no one knew anything that was going on. The manager working the day was very nice but clueless. There were no chafing dishes provided. No one was there to serve the food which we specifically paid extra for. If I would have known this I would have arranged friends or paid someone else to serve the food. By having servers they know to portion food as opposed to having people serve themselves. If I would have known what I was getting into I would have never booked here. I know asking to cater from the outside is not a request everyone accepts but they agreed to it from the start and agreed to the other terms as well. Prior to this we went to 2 other events at this hotel over the years and I can you can assure I WILL NEVER EVER RECCOMEND ANYONE TO HOLD ANY EVENT HERE!. I have lots of co workers and friends who need venues to hold bridal showers ect but after what I saw please go...
Read moreKenilworth; we stayed a number of years ago & again July 2024- No coffee in for mid-late afternoon check in. Such a small convenience to travelers either after a long day on the road or an early departure; was a long day on the road and somewhat expected there was a chance to have some in the lobby or hotel diner upon arrival, sadly the hotel diner had not been open for some time for whatever reasons, our luck. Keurig machine in the room included 2 k-cups, lite roast were terrible, went back out to get some food & some coffee for the afternoon and a couple more to microwave the next morning when we got up. The refrigerator was on "Low" setting and took hours to get to temp for our left over meals. The shower had beautiful scented shampoo/conditioner, thats kind of where it ended as far as the room. I’m unsure after reading the Kenils writeup, what their term “boutique hotel” means but the terms “luxuriously appointed” and “Premium bedding” are definitely a wee bit of a fib. At bedtime the very thin & litely yellow tinged sheets (which were the same a few years back when we stayed), specifically the “fitted” sheet, kept coming loose and was awakened at 1:15am; my hand/ inner arm felt “something” odd on the mattress, yes I freeked out. I woke my husband who put the light on because I had no idea what was going on. Found it was a multitude of thickly & severely pilled large pieces of cotton / mattress cover that had been disintegrating; it was put on upside down instead of right side; it was so gross. Certainly the pad was not quality, so thin it is a waste of time. Overall not a great night here. Checked out at 6:30 am but a desk clerk was not available to get a reciept nor let them know the issues with the bedding, so we left the key on the counter. Also no coffee service was available at that time & there were others mulling around the lobby as well; maybe it came out later but that doesnt do much good for early departures. We left that morning for another part of our trip & decided not to book another overnight on our way back- |a week later...bummed, for the price and lack of general immenities that even economy hotels have, kind of expected a little better this...
Read moreDon't waste your time staying here. You can find FAR BETTER accommodations in Linden, Cranford, or Clark. First when you walk in there is what appears to be some type of even space, music blasting and disruptive. The lobby was packed with people. The rooms are tiny, dingy with a layer of dust, and outdated. We could barely move in the room with the pullout bed out and there was minimal space between the king bed and the dressers leaving very small space to walk. This room was clearly designed for one bed, not a king and a pullout sofa. It was impossible to keep a comfortable temperature- it was either too hot or too hold. We had to switch between AC heat and nothing. The bathrooms were poorly equipped. The water did not get hot. We all took cold showers. Not enough towels and wash cloths we provided for the number of people staying. Also no linens are kept for the pullout bed. Front office staff became defensive and offered poor accommodations when dissatisfaction for the room was given. Our family required a king bed and they had no other rooms. The room was so crammed and small we were unable to use all of the features we paid for- including the refrigerator!!! The refrigerator was located in a cabinet- the cabinet door opened in the opposite direction as the refrigerator door so we could not use it. The doors collided. Abria at the front desk also refused to let our delivery driver up to the room stated it was policy yet was unable to provide the written policy. The delivery driver stayed “I just delivered there last week and I was allowed up to the room” Then because we asked for the policy we were placed on the “do not rent list” You could not pay me to rent a room from there anymore!!!! Avoid this place if you are looking for any type of quiet and peaceful stay with staff that want to be helpful and accommodating. If the general manager were smart he would fix the problems instead of making excuses. Customer beware!!!!! This is place is run completely unprofessionally- and it starts with the “park at your own...
