I had been meaning to try El Lechon de Negron for a long time, and I finally had the chance to go with my wife today. We were both very impressed with the food and service. The restaurant is mainly a take-out place, but they do have a few tables inside and a few outside. We decided to eat outside on a lovely cloudy day. I ordered the pernil with arroz con gandules and cueritos (crunchy skin). It was a very flavorful dish, and the meat was cooked perfectly. My wife had the chicharron de pollo with white rice and red beans. She also enjoyed her dish, and she didn't even want to share it with me! For dessert, we both had the tembleque. It was a delicious custard-like dessert, and it was the perfect way to end our meal. I also had a double espresso, which was just what I needed to wake me up after a long day. The service at El Lechon de Negron was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. We were so impressed with his service that we gave him a generous tip. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at El Lechon de Negron. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

I always keep it real and this experience was just underwhelming and I know I may have a high expectation because my moms maternal side of the family is Puerto Rican so im well versed in Caribbean Spanish food but this food lacked flavor. I would go back to try just the food they have in the buffet bar but the lechon burger my friend tried was lacking in seasoning. I was jonesing for a patacon and it was also lacking in flavor both in the tostone part and the chicken cutlet which was different since all patacon's ive ever had were shredded meat which would have made the patacon easier to not fall apart. Now I am always thorough in my reviews, i know they have a ton of signs in their establishment saying that people aren't robots and to be patient and I practice patience but we walked in and there was no one in there, 4 people working behind the scenes and we waited 25-30 minutes to get 2 things off a menu felt excessive so I would order way in advance. Or they could have warned us that it would take a while I'd say 3.5 because the staff was friendly but it just didn't seem on par with the price. My friend lives in that area and will return to try some other items so i'll update my review then.

My husband had been driving past this place for a while and curiosity finally dragged him in! We both ordered mofongo. His was stuffed with steak and onions, mine with chicken and onions. I've had mofongo many times in Puerto Rico and this was authentic! Very good. I tried the Thanksgiving empanada also, but was less impressed with this one. It was a very mushy texture and didn't give me much in the way of the cranberry bit... mostly stuffing. I wouldn't order it again. I could maybe live on the platanos fritos, though. I ordered this to go and enjoyed putting cream cheese on them! The rice was also excellent. This is not a menu for someone watching their carbs, which is kind of where my husband and I both fall right now. We made it our "cheat meal" for the weekend. The biggest cheat of all was the flan de coco. It's difficult to find this locally. It was very good. Extraordinarily sweet. It's a small serving, but I still had to break it up and finish it in two sittings. We added our own strawberry kiwi margaritas to wash it all down! ;)

Now this is my kind of place. I read about it on FB and never knew this kind of place existed so close to me. I arrived on a Friday night and it didn't disappoint. Upon entering, I found out quickly that this is a small place. Like 5 tables and 25 chairs small. I also realized that this place never stopped feeding people. So be patient waiting for your food. Everything is made to order. I ordered the lechon disco fries and the steak el jibarito. The fries were awesome. A little salty, but to be expected from the gravy, cheese, pork and fries. The steak el jibarito was awesome. You could really taste the quality of the food from the plantain "bread" to the steak. Funny thing is, the jibarito was overpowered by the lechon disco fries (I had the fries as an appetizer), so in the future, I will have the sandwich by itself to give a more accurate review. For dessert, I had rice pudding. Plenty of food for one person (I took home leftovers for tomorrow) and reasonably priced. Parking and space are limited, so get there early.

This place obviously caught my attention due to its name. It’s our families last name as well. The service I have to say could use a little work I understand it gets busy and they were overwhelmed so perhaps that’s where the rude snappy comments came from. The food is so great you’d want to come again. For me it’s almost a two hour drive but I’d make the trip again for the authenticity of this food. I have to say the wait is very long so unless you’re a patient person don’t come here. If you order make sure you order everything with the people taking your food order which means even icees or beverages. I literally got snapped at by the cash rep for asking for an icee while I was paying. He said he would let it slide because it’s my first time there but that he needed to train me for the next time I came around. If you can handle some sarcasm then head on over but if you can’t please don’t. The food again is great they just need better support on deck.
