I won't be supporting this business anymore. Placed an order over the phone and asked for extra sides (pregnant and starving not a good combination) which I advised I don't care about the cost I'm willing to pay it. The woman on the phone said okay gave me my total and stated how long it would be before my order is ready for pickup. Me and my sister go to pick up my order and now I'm being told that they are sold out of the sides I ordered over the phone. Mind you my order is still not ready and it's past the time provided. I understand my order not being completed as the food was still being cooked. The reason why I will no longer support this business is because the same sides i had ordered over the phone and was now told they ran out mysteriously became available to five other customers who came in the store well after me. When I asked the woman behind the counter why did she tell me they ran out but is offering those same sides to people who came in after me and I reminded her that I placed my order over the phone. Her reasoning was "because I said what I said". I was very upset after that but to refrain from having the cops called on me, I kept my mouth closed and paid for my order. There were two people standing next to me who heard the entire conversation and said that the woman is clearly lying. I should've stopped payment when I got home seeing as though i didn't get my complete order but I let it slide.
I'll take my money to support a business that will give me what i'm going to pay for. Told my family and friends don't even bother spending...
Read moreUncle Cletus and Aunt ReQueathah would give their nod of approval. Look, they don't use no newfangled airfryers in this kitchen, but if you're craving some of the best southern style cooking in northern NJ, you have literally hit the motherlode! Warning: you may have to jostle for a parking spot in the woefully insuffient lot or a chair in this small family run place, but it will be well worth it.
Freshly prepared fried chicken, wings, fish and shrimp meal combos (complimentary corn bread on the side) are a matter of course. But everybody knows what truly elevates amateurs into pros are the sides. Sensational cabbage, creamy baked mac and cheese are my favorites, so far, as both are seasoned for my flavorful life but not overly so.
The barbecue is also tasty and their unique sauce is available for purchase, if you can't get enough. The only desserts we tried were the peach and apple cobblers, which were loaded with fruit and syrupy sweet--as any self-respecting, down-home establishment would make. But I would definitely be trying the various cakes and pies listed on their extensive menu during future trips.
All in all, the signs proclaiming that they serve, "the itis" are officially validated, confirmed...
Read moreMaMa's has not been the same since COVID19 started. Last night, the server resold my 2 Uptown Ice teas right in front of me.
First, the cashier was on a personal call while I was paying for my order, I couldn't tell if she was talking to me or her friend on the phone. My dinner order was called in and both meals and drinks were placed aside for pickup. After PAYING my order, one server told a customer that there was no more Uptowns but then told another server to remove one uptown from MY ORDER and hand it to the customer, as I am waiting for them to hand me my 2 Uptowns. When I reminded the server that my 2 drinks were missing, her response was "we are all out of Uptowns". Mind you there was one more Uptown left on the counter. The server instructed the cashier to refund me $6, not $3. I went back to the cashier and she handles me exactly $6 but where's the tax? The cashier was reluctant to refund me the tax I'd paid. Oh by the way, the server gave my other uptown to another customer.
My daughter and I drove 25 mins. from Morristown just to be disappointed with the service and the management. The food wasn't that great but I'll chalk it up because it was the end...
