Ordered a large white rice, sos pwa, lalo and a small rice and beans with griyo.I threw the white rice away because I can tell it was not cooked the same day as it smelled bad.Overall it was my first time there and will not go back.We have to demand more from these Haitian restaurants. They are so inconsistent! If you go based on a review you may be in for a surprise because they are mostly a hit or miss. They are never consistent with the menu and how food is prepared. If you are craving Haitian food make it yourself or else just throw money down the drain because that is exactly what I did ordering food from this place. Update: this is what I am talking about I had nothing better to do with my money look at the owner's reply to me...At first she/he is sorry about my experience and read the rest! What else did I expect from you? You respect everyone else but your own people in the way you present yourselves, talk to them or act...This is not Haiti do better!! Before you say I need to find happiness within my culture.Do you know me? No...I am the same person who will leave very detailed and nice comments or even call a restaurant to give them positive feedbacks when I am happy with their food and service. I am judging the food based on what I got.If this rice was fresh well maybe you may need to check why it smelled and looked exactly the way it did.I am not one of your typical Haitians who only complain behind close doors, you will know when I am not happy and I will also be sure to give positive feedbacks when I am.People work to hard for their money to...
Read moreMoved to the area 1.5 yrs ago and this has been my go to Haitian spot since. Typically, my visits are on weekends, & I have had the pleasure of engaging with Jessica, who consistently is courteous & provides exceptional service. And the food is good, hence the 3 stars. But regrettably, today I was disappointed with both the service & the quality of my order. Upon attempting to request substitutions, like I’ve done ~5 times before, I was met with an abrupt response from the staff member, “listen listen”; which could have been communicated more tactfully. Then after picking up my “large” order of griot & rice, the serving of griot was 90% fat & bones (see photo). Then to add insult to injury, to compensate for the lack there of the container of sauce was placed in with the griot, which is not the usual practice of this establishment. If there was no more griot left , wish they would have just said that…because no one is paying $20 bucks for blobs of griot fat & bones. My intention is simply to provide feedback to contribute constructively towards enhancement/ improvement. While this experience has been disappointing, not saying I wouldn’t come back, but would definitely think twice & if I do I’m def checking my order...
Read moreI called the place and I politely asked the man what’s on the menu today? His reply was & I quote: “you people always ask what’s on the menu— we cook the same food every day! What do you expect?” I couldn’t believe my ears, but I was hungry. I proceeded to order fried goat & plantains. He asked me if I wanted a large or small. I told him large. I’m lying, because I happen to like the young lady who owns Neguess. He charged me $31 dollars. I swear that was extra small size. The only good thing the goat tasted great, but the plantains were tasted old and were hard. I have always patronized the place because the owner is young and reminded me of my daughter. She has the same unfriendly attitude as my okdest daughter, but I supported her anyway because I like seeing young people thrive. My second reason for supporting her is because the food was great in the beginning. Now it’s a hit or miss. If I were her, I would get rid of the man taking her orders. However, truth be told; Haitians restaurants by and large do have serious customer...
