We stopped by Bagel and Bliss on Friday morning around 9:30 and unfortunately witnessed some troubling staff dynamics. The counter service was disorganized from the start. A man named William, who had been at the register, was replaced mid-shift by a young woman. Shortly after, an older woman named Giti, who clearly saw herself as in charge, began loudly and rudely directing the young woman in front of customers.
The young employee looked overwhelmed and visibly distressed, even glancing toward the growing line as if hoping for someone to intervene. One customer did speak up, calling out Gitiās behavior, at which point Giti ran out the front door after the customer. The scene was uncomfortable and upsetting to witness.
While the bagels themselves were fine, the atmosphere and lack of kindness from management left a bad taste. Watching a team struggle, especially when one member is clearly mistreating the others, makes for an unpleasant customer experience. We hope the management addresses these issues soon, for the sake of both their staff and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my second visit. They are trying real hard but still in the startup "soft" opening mode whatever that means. Waited about 45 minutes when there was maybe 12 people ahead of me and the types of bagels were limited. They did not have enough product as they were behind in bring out additional bagels so had to settle for some we did not particularly want. Also they didn't have change, so I ended up paying more than the listed price as did some other customers. They do need at least 3-4 people in the front, making sandwiches and just fulfilling bagel only orders. Perhaps they should consider giving a bakers dozen as other shops do. The bagels are getting there, but this being my second visit, some of the bagels were burnt when I got home and took them out of the bag. Very pleasant warm and friendly people and its terrific to have a family run store in the neighborhood. Nevertheless, still worth trying and giving them some time to improve as they never did...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited for the 1st time today and had a great experience. Tip for the bagel shop newbies: cream cheese is not automatic on the sandwiches, it's extra. I did not know that but they graciously added a schmeer for us. A avocado & cream cheese with tomato and onion on a poppy seed bagel is an amazing sandwich. I almost went back in for another one. Also tried the egg salad which was very good. Bagels are the chewey type so if you get squishy fillings it's going to be messy! My only wish is they were a little bigger to accommodate a few tables inside. U City residents should be supporting small local businesses like this instead of the corporate chain crap over on Olive, that I...
