Sushi Shiro — Restaurant in Upland

I recently visited Sushi Shiro for dinner and was blown away by the quality of the food and service. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and has a great atmosphere, with attentive and friendly staff.

But the real star of the show was the sushi. I ordered the omakase and was treated to a variety of expertly crafted sushi dishes that were simply outstanding. The fish was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and each piece had its own unique flavor profile that was a delight to savor.

One dish that stood out was the toro nigiri, which was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and hands down the best I've ever had. The sushi rice was also top-notch, with just the right amount of vinegar and seasoning.

The presentation of the dishes was also impressive, with beautiful plating that was almost too pretty to eat.

Drove by this place after my haircut at a local barber. Saw it had more than a few stars, and more importantly, it wasn't busy... Walked into a library, so quiet was the atmosphere that my voice boomed and echoed throughout the main dining area. I startled the three other guests in there and sheepishly asked for a table for one. The very nice waitress pointed to a small corner table, and I walked over with all eyes on me. Ordered the crunchy dragon and some other crunchy something and some other crunchy tiger thing. Good. Food came to me quickly and showed me the chef had spent some time studying the craft. All was good, not outstanding, but good. They do not serve hard liquor like bourbon or whiskey, but they do have Saki. Asahi and the usual Japanese beers. My wife and I had dinner at Sushi Shiro and found the food and price a great value.

Although the place is a good size, they are seating people at a distance and you need a mask to enter.

Upon arrival, there was a sign that said they close at 7:30 pm, while their website says 10 pm. This is likely a temporary issue from the pandemic.

Sushi Shiro specializes in sushi rolls, and well, I don't care for seaweed. Interestingly I do enjoy sashimi.

I opted for the dinner box. It started with a soup course and then meal. I went with teriyaki beef, sashimi, and tempura shrimp. The box also included a salad.

While everything was very good, a few things stood out. The ginger dressing on the salad was excellent, as was the dipping sauce.

For $21, I walked away full and satisfied.
