TL;DR: Wanted to love this place, but didn't. Giving it a meh+

Did a mini-roadtrip to try this place after it did several laps in my "want to go" list. It's in a nondescript strip mall location, which is fine with me, many great places are.

Inside, it's reminiscent of a few other European delis like Globe Deli in Costa Mesa and Mattern in Orange. The selection of groceries and other goods was on the slimmer side here compared to a bigger place like the German Deli at Old World in Huntington Beach.

I'm all about supporting small businesses, and this one looks like it's owned and operated by a family, I was helped by a woman who very well could be an owner.

Ordered a trio of sandwiches and a side of order of the house potato salad to go (everything is to go right now, there is no inside dining). The sandwiches, priced around $7-8, are firmly on the less expensive side of things compared to the other places I've mentioned, where the sandwiches are $10-12.

Got everything home and shared it with the family. The sandwiches were good, if not memorable. The portions were on the smaller side compared to the competition, but admittedly cheaper. None of us loved the potato salad, although it was better than some I've had (I generally don't care for the heavy mayonnaise-based salads). It just didn't have the tang I like, instead being fairly plain except for pepper.

All told, I likely won't make the drive again. I would choose the Continental Delicatessen in La Habra, Mattern Sausage & Deli in Orange, or the German Deli at Old World in Huntington Beach before coming back. All of those are priced higher, but offer a larger selection, a better vibe, and a more...

Had such a horrible experience here I have to share. My mom and I came here so excited to try their food and were left shocked for their service. We were next in line to order with a large family in front of us so it was taking a while for us to be attended, of course we didn't mind it, not until it was our turn to order we were finally next and trying to order when a Caucasian lady came in and asked if we were in line. She then went towards the end of the line as she was glimpsing the menu in the wall when the older lady cashier went up to her and asked for her order, the customer politely pointed out that we were next and she was still looking, so the cashier looked at us and said it's okay I can help you now. My mom n I were so shocked because we were there for a long time and even asked to use the restroom which she said they didn't have any. The customer looked at us and again pointed for us and the cashier said it was OK so she did start taking her order. I let the cashier know we were next and she told us to wait so I told her no we were leaving instead because we were next and had been waiting there for a while AND had to use a restroom. So overall we did feel like it was some kind of racial discrimination since we are dark skinned Hispanic women. I have never felt this discriminated or rejected, we definitely will not be going back and do NOT recommend. What a...

I decided to try the "Beef Rouladen" which should be flank steak rolled up around something like a pickle accompanied with onion, etc.

What I got was cut up steak slathered in what was obviously brown gravy from a packet, on the side was sauerkraut which too was not hand made (it appeared very much like the bottled sauerkraut for sale on the shelving, yeah it may be from Germany but when I go to eat out I don't expect to be simply be fed crap from a bottle!) It also came with the "German potato salad" which was OK. I suspect it too was being passed off as "authentic German food" because it was packaged in Germany... I wish I would have taken a picture so you all could see what a disgrace it all really was. I feel like I got ripped off.

The people however were awesome, great service and the ladies behind the counter super nice and helpful. They even gave me a free little piece of cake as I was eating which was delicious. Ambiance was ok, German music in the background and some interesting decor to look at. I would give it two stars based on these last few things but I was just so very disappointed by the quality of the food I paid for.

I would not recommend this place to others and I will not be...

I walked in not knowing what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The lady, and gentleman were both pleasant, and helpful. It's been over 30 years since I was stationed in Bad Kreuznach Germany, and I found many products that I had become accustomed to enjoying in my three years there. The pastries I purchased were of excellent quality, and who could pass up Hefe Weissbier from the oldest brewery in the world! I shall be returning to this deli, and I can see an apple strudel in my future!

2022 is the year of trying places I always wondered about. This deli did not disappoint. Kristine Konefat and her partner were very hospitable and the food is fantastic. My friend and I ordered 2 specials and a sandwich to try things. Sauerbraten, Brunsweiger, Spetzle, cabbage rolls, warm potato salad, macaroni salad, a pickle and some pastries. All of it was so delicious. Our favorite was a tie between the Sauerbraten and Spetzle. Highly recommend for all locals.

I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality of the bratwurst. The hot potato salad reminded me of a high quality knish from my childhood and was really comforting on a chilly day and the sauerkraut was a really nice combination of sweet and sour - I could totally see it being amazing on a Reuben. I was so happy I went back the same day and got a raspberry pastry and a peach pastry. Both of them were flaky, buttery, good balance of sweetness, delicious too.
