Eastern Gourmet — Restaurant in Upper Saucon

The food is decent, but customer service isn't the best. I've eaten from here at least monthly since moving to Coopersburg, and up until my last call for an order, I've been happy. I called Friday night and wanted to get a Maki Combo, but was told I couldn't get anything but the 3 rolls listed on the menu - california roll, tuna roll, salmon roll. Who ever wants those exact three rolls? I mean, I like all 3 of those rolls, but that's not what I was in the mood for, and the owner or manager in the background was very rude about it. Needless to say, I have on more than one occasion ordered the maki combo and been allowed to pick the 3 rolls I wanted, which would've been 2 salmon/avocado and a yellowtail scallion. I don't understand what the big deal was, and like I said... I've ordered with any 3 regular rolls just like their lunch special before. If it's about the money, have another item similar to the lunch special that's a dollar or two more where you can choose any 3 regular rolls. But since they decided to be offensive about it, from now on when I want sushi I'll just drive down to Eastern Dragon. Easter Gourmet has lost a life long customer in me for the attitude...

Pleasant staff. Excellent food. Nice atmosphere and decorations.

When looking for a place online we figured we had picked a cheaper only Chinese joint (our mistake, looking again today they have a nice informative website). When we got there we were surprised it was more a restaurant and the prices were higher than we thought. (we are used to ordering pints but they only sell one size which is comparable to a quart). BUT it was worth every penny!

Pork fried rice and Beef and Broccoli is out of this world excellent! Believe it or not the Ice Water is great too... (some restaurants have horrible tasting water).

Another highlight... it's a BYOB but I forgot my B.

The only thing I will caution you is that the sweet and sour chicken comes with the red sauce already on it. Next time we go we are going to make sure half of them do not have the sauce..

Also many Americans appreciate Asian heritage so it would be nice if the music was authentic. I think they were playing classical kind of music which is also nice.

I am looking forward to leftovers. I can't wait to go back and I would also like to go back some time for...

Got takeout and discovered at home that both orders of dumplings were burned...not a little, actually jet black and hard. They even smelled badly charred. I called the store to report it, thinking the mgr would want to know that horribly burned dumplings were being packaged and sent out to customers. She stated that she saw no problem with charcoaled dumplings, and that some people actually liked them that way. Though I assured her we were not those people and liked our dumplings edible, she continued to insist that if there was any problem it was with us so she was not responsible for correcting anything. We used to eat there often, but the quality of the food has been deteriorating for a while, as has the quality of the management. Suggest you find another chinese/japanese restaurant. We...
