I went to eat at this restaurant with my family and it was the best food I had since coming to the US. The quality and the service is top notch.
We ordered their falafel sandwich, falafel on their own, chicken shawarma over rice, lamb shawarma over rice and kefta kebab over rice. We then had the baklava for dessert.
The falafel were so delicious; soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Also, they were heart shaped, which is a VERY CUTE original touch. They were very light and the tahini sauce paired with them was very tasty. Tahini sauce can sometimes get heavy but I did not experience that with their sauce. The sandwich was also amazing with the added pickles and veggies. It was very filling considering it was big.
The chicken shawarma was marinated chicken thighs which were SO TENDER and flavorful. The rice was cooked perfectly and its seasoning paired very nicely with the chicken. The side of hummus was very delicious as well.
The lamb shawarma was also very tender with an amazing rich flavor. It’s very rare that restaurants are able to get such a flavor of lamb. The side of mouhamara was VERY authentic; I enjoyed eating with the mains and the pita bread served.
The kefta kebab was my personal favorite, as it had such a delicious mix of spices. It was also very juicy. I finished the plate wanting more even after feeling full. The fries were also some of the best fries I had.
Each of the rice dishes were served with a spicy red sauce that paired amazingly with all of them. I highly recommend pouring it all over the dish. It was just the right amount of spice and tasted of fresh tomato.
Lastly we had the baklava, which was made out of a flaky filo dough of great consistency. The fillings were amazing and had the perfect amount of sweetness that did not overpower the flavor of the walnut and pistachio fillings. A perfect sweet treat after a VERY satisfying meal.
This restaurant serves very filling meals that are worth the price due to their large portion sizes and sides that come with the mains.
You can tell how much thought and effort was put into making the food and the recipes. Also, the staff are so very kind and welcoming. I HIGHLY recommend coming to this restaurant when in Pennsylvania and I CAN NOT wait to get the chance to...
Read moreThere were bunch of mediterranean food places near by where we live at. Had couple places in mind to try from, and for this time we went ahead with Sama Grill.
We ordered chicken shawarma & chicken kebab entrees with side of hummus & tzatziki sauce respectively. The rice had such a subtle flavor , along with the chicken shawarma well cooked topped of with garlic sauce.Their chicken kebabs were pretty amazing , juicy , nice herb flavors , and very light. Hummus was great with Pita bread.
Their tzatziki sauce was disappointing , which tasted just like a yoghurt with no such great flavor in it. The hot sauce was not good , either I have mistaken it for hot sauce or it might have been something-else. Either ways I will not try their red sauce personally.
We also have tired their Turkish coffee which was an interesting flavor, coffee with cardamom flavor in it. Felt like the cardamom flavor dominated the actual coffee flavor. However it smelled great and tasted decent.
Overall after having food at Sama grill it felt very light on stomach given their such subtle balanced herb flavors and well cooked juicy chicken. Glad that we tried...
Read moreCraving a light dinner, we ordered takeaway from Sama Grill tonight. The baba ghanouj was righteous, comparing favorably with my granny’s version. The subtle smokiness of the eggplant was evidence of proper roasting, a fundamental step for proper baba. My husband adored his chicken kebab with roasted veggies and rice. The fact that hubs, a determined carnivore, wanted more roasted veggies speaks volumes. From across the table, each grain of perfect long-grain rice was visible, which is a sign of a skilled hand. Finally, the fattoush salad was crisp, fresh, and carefully made. My only quibble is that the dressing was tongue-shockingly sharp and would have benefited from substantially more olive oil and seasonings. (Perhaps use the Lebanese version of fattoush dressing, which is superior IMHO). I may try Sama’s lemon dressing next go ‘round. We will be adding Sama Grill to our short list of regular haunts. Thank you for a great dinner and welcome to the...
