Short version: Food was overcooked, below mid. Service by older staff was bad. Talked over, rushed, and treated like 2nd class until it came time to pay. Didn't even try to fake it.
We really wanted to like this place. Our dog daycare is in the area and we decided that we would stop in for some dinner before heading home as it was my partner's birthday and I wanted to treat them.
Either owner or manager greeted us, initially only spoke to my partner. We didn't understand what he was asking us initially, and he became frustrated. Stared at us from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Was seated next to the kitchen. The older server woman couldn't contain her preconceived notions and it spilled out into the service. When asking what we wanted, spoke over me in particular and answered questions for me. She asked how I wanted my steak, I said medium... it still came back overdone. The rest of the food was also overcooked (scallops, shrimp, rice, and lo mein), except the vegetables.
I actually hadn't been treated this way in a long time. I know what it is and people reading this know what it is if you've ever experienced it from a particular type of waitstaff. My partner asked me if I was okay and was not happy with the rushed service to get us in and out. It was a stark contrast in the treatment we received vs. other patrons.
The young waitress who seemed to be helping in between was excellent and did not treat us like we were in the 1950's. I appreciated her and I hope she does well in life.
My partner said the bathroom was clean, but the door was propped open with a trash can, so all of your business was on display.
I did not complain while there because of how those things typically go. We simply asked for our check and we left.
I still tipped them 20% because I nor my partner is a jerk. However, what could have been a normal spot for us to stop into on the way to pick up our Great Dane from the daycare, will not be in the future. We'll simply find another place. I don't recommend this location just based on how uncomfortable we were made to feel, seconded by the fact that the food wasn't anything to...
Read moreAte dinner with my family at Mt Fuji - we wouldn't normailly have eaten there but we picked up a "Living Social" deal and thought we'd try it out.
The meal started off badly with some almost flavorless soup and a salad with dressing that was very similar to coleslaw. I ordered steak for my son and it was way overcooked and saturated in sauce. I got a stain on my pants after the chef missed my plate with some of the vegetables which alternated between overcooked and raw. The fried rice was OK - unfortunately it was one of the highlights.
Within 5 minutes of the chef wrapping up, we were given the check and then asked for it repeatedly - while we were eating by three different people as were the other people at our table.
Kid's booster seats were greasy and sticky and the men's bathroom was gross too.
The final straw was when I went to pay the bill and they told us that the Living Social deal only applied to their other location. Hope I can get a refund because after this experience, I don't intend to try the...
Read moreMount Fuji delivered a knockout meal from start to finish. We kicked things off with a classic miso soup and crisp house salad drizzled in that nostalgic carrot-ginger dressing — simple, fresh, and exactly what you want to start. The edamame came out hot, salty, and perfectly snappy, just the way it should be.
We split the sushi deluxe and were blown away by the quality — every bite tasted like it was sliced seconds ago. The clear standout was the fatty tuna: rich, silky, and melt-on-your-tongue good. The salmon and white tuna followed close behind — buttery and fresh with zero fishiness.
Even the chicken teriyaki held its own — juicy, flavorful, and something I’d happily order again. The space had a relaxed, welcoming vibe, even early in the evening when things were still quiet. Service was fast and attentive without being overbearing.
Can’t wait to come back. This place knows...
