A Taste of Both Worlds — Restaurant in Urbana

Was looking for something different in Urbana and was glad I stumbled upon this place in the Broadway Food Hall. The hall was fairly empty and we really wished it was fuller because the food from this place was delicious. We got the chicken sisig and chicken lumpia because folks in our party can’t eat pork, but they can make the sisig & lumpia with pork/beef i believe. The chicken sisig came with a serving of rice and after we told them we were planning to share it, instead of dividing up the rice, they just gave us more servings which was very generous of them. Everyone was extremely nice, and every time I came up to the counter to ask for condiments or utensils, I was greeted with the warmest smile. ordered through doordash. my bf loved the adobo! it was almost melt in your mouth. he also got lumpia. the orange sauce was very nostalgic. i got sisig (mixed chicken and pork) which was not a good choice. next time, i wouldve just went with the pork. the chicken wasnt really chopped as tiny as i woudlve liked. i also got turon. here is why i took one star off. the turon was smaller than the lumpia. it was also served with powdered sugar, chocolate, and caramel? i remember turon as a midday snack (meryenda), not as a dessert. has it been rebranded? well, it has been years since ive had "street" turon so maybe it has changed. i remember it being cooked in oil, and then had some brown sugar crystalization on the outside of the wrapper. i just did not vibe...

One of my go to places for consistently great food. Been eating here since it first started in a food truck. I've tried most of the menu items and everything I've had has been great. The lumpia is amazing, reminds me of my lola's filipino cooking and when you get compared favorably to someone grandma's food your know your doing it right. I've had bahn mi from pretty much all the places in town that offer it and Taste of Both Worlds has one of the best around. I've also ordered catering from here and my guests rave about the food.
