Mountain Burrito — Restaurant in Valdese

First off I’ve loved Mountain Burrito for years and tell everyone to try it! I’ve been such a big fan and really love local businesses especially Mountain Burrito.

I went to the Valdese location and got the nachos. The food was amazing as usual, but I noticed a huge shrink of the portion of meat provided. The two boys that were making my dish were very kind and had big smiles on their faces despite it being at least 85 degrees in the restaurant. (They were very busy due to the fireworks celebration that day so the door kept being opened and those big windows were struggling with the intensive heat).

I’m docking a few stars for the very rude manager, she had long gray hair. I was waiting to use the restroom and I had not been to this location before, I asked the woman if this was the line for the bathroom and she just looked at me with dead eyes and nodded her head in a way that was like “and why are you talking to me ???” I thought she was just a customer and was surprised to see the rude lady behind the counter after using the restroom.

Possibly an off night. Approximately 14 of us arrived around 7:30. Shrimp on the salad bar was very good. Several items on the salad bar were empty and we were told would not be refilled, after several of us had that for our dinner choice. So no queso for us! 😮‍💨 The ones that ordered meals, it took roughly an hour and a half, give or take. We were one of maybe 5 tables. An order of crawfish had absolutely no seasoning on it. The group I was with said their Christmas party there was excellent. For the salad / Mexican bar, 1 sweet tea with lemon, never received the lemon, 1 order of a frozen strawberry margarita, $35. The margarita had some slush to it but was undrinkable. They did have the biggest baked potato I've ever seen!! After the hype of deciding to go there... I was disappointed. Hopefully it was just a rough night for all. Will try it...

I absolutely love the food here. The staff were very friendly and patient with me as I tried to figure out what I wanted. Service is fast, and they have great portion size as well! Ingredients are fresh and delicious. I especially love their sauce selection! I love eating spicy food, and I think this is the only place I've come across that when they say a sauce is spicy, it is actually spicy! If you like spice, not only are their hot sauces spicy, they have great flavor! I love that I am finding more healthy options out here in western NC. I feel like these places are hard to come by around here away from the big cities. I will definitely keep coming back. I only wish they weren't closed on Mondays...
