Valdese Parks & Recreation Department — Attraction in Valdese

Pool is great but lifeguard staff is a bunch of teenagers that complain and roll their eyes when asked to do something that is their job. When talking they should be mindful of their surrondings especially when they're a bunch of children around.

Update: Very helpful staff and big difference since the last time I visited. Decent locker rooms/restrooms. Wheelchair accessible along with plenty of handicap parking. I tried the concession foods for the 1st time today and they cook it fresh as you order it. The wait time was 5-10 mins so really not bad. There was an open gym and a bowling alley so it was a nice discovery. Open pool was also nice although the water was a little too chilly for me and they clean it every so often. Overall impressed much more than my last visit....

We love the splash pad part of this park. The bathroom area is nice and well kept. The picnic area is nice and there are several tables as well as floor space. There is a small playground area for smaller kids as well as a larger one for older kids.

There is an big jungle gym climbing area to get to the slide which is kinda a down side because the only way to go down the slide is if you climb all the way up. Not to mention the slide is very steep and fast. Plus, as you go down the slide you dump off the end because it's so fast.

The other thing I don't care for is there are NO swings at all. I have never been to a park with no swings.

I know during fall/winter it’s basketball season and they have their practices and all but going by Valdese schedule they are suppose to have open volleyball at 6:00 pm. But according The the lady who works here. She told me that basketball practice does not end until 8. They need to change their schedule whenever it is basketball season to let us volleyball players know. I traveled at least 45 minutes to come practice playing volleyball.
