I am just not impressed with this restaurant. Tbe first visit we did carry out, and it was in the first week of the opening the restaurant. My order wasn't complete, tasted very bland, and made my stomach upset. That made my stomach even more upset after spending close to $40 for two to eat. I have heard good and bad since the opening week so i decided to give it another try. This time nothing else helped me form another opinion. I did some research before going and found out they started with a taco truck, and from the success of the taco truck formed the restaurant. I am under the impression that the restaurant is owned by a young couple, and for this reason, I will try this restaurant again and give my honest opinion, hopefully one more appealing to the taste buds of success. I would love to see these brave young restaurant owners put Valdese on the map and dollars in the pockets of the staff and community. I ordered the fish tacos, on flour tortillas with sweet tea, of course. I enjoyed the flavor and texture of the battered fish crumbles but there was so much lacking from the bland looking and tasting tacos. It had three tacos and the soft shell to fish ratio was not of equal proportion. There wasn't near enough fish in it making it like a bite of doughy bread with dried fish from a fast food chain flavor profile. I must have not read correctly but even if i hadn't, it only came with 3 whole sauteed green onions, and one roasted jalapeno pepper. I added some of the salsa brought to the table before ordering, to give my fish tacos some flavor depth and "sassappeal." I hope to find the right time or dish in the near future to entice me to keep my money locally and enjoy doing it. {On the sweeter side of things, I LOVE the sweet tea, and would actually stop in for a to go cup if there was a larger size or a drive thru window in...
Read moreMy husband and I frequented this restaurant at least once a week for the past four years. Since the Covid pandemic we have ordered take-out for the last year. There have been four occasions in the past 2 months where our take-out orders were incomplete. Each time I called and they said I could come back to get the missing items. Since it is 24 miles round trip, the last three times I just said forget it and I ate the dinner without the items that were supposed to be included. Each of those three times there was only one item each time that was missing. Today, there were two items out of 4 that were missing. I called and told her what was missing and she told me to come and pick up the missing items and that I would receive a restaurant credit for my dinner. I drove all the way back and she handed me a bag with my missing items. I asked her for my dinner credit and she said I can either take the missing items and go home to a cold dinner or I could wait for them to make me another dinner. That is not what I was told on the phone!!! I asked to speak to the manager and she said, I am the manager and there are people behind you that are waiting to pay their bill so either take the bag or get a dinner for credit. This place is the worst restaurant for customer service!!! I had worked in restaurants for over 20 years and this is not the way to treat a customer. All I could say at that point was, OK, AND I WILL NEVER BE BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! This is NOT the way to treat a customer and I will...
Read moreI am rewriting this review because someone from the restaurant responded and claimed that the server did sing and bring a dessert. That is NOT TRUE! This place was recommended as a really great place to eat and celebrate a special occasion so we chose to celebrate my son’s 12th birthday here. The restaurant was busy when we first arrived but had thinned out and was mildly busy by the time we were finishing our meals. Our experience wasn’t pleasant. The service was rude and inattentive. My son loves Mexican food and that’s all he asked for. We wanted to do something a little special for him because he’s had a rough couple of years as he was diagnosed with T1D almost 2 years ago. Apparently a child wasn’t worth the effort, even though several other adults were sang to at other tables while we dined. NO ONE ever came to the table to sing to him as requested and no one even bothered to bring the check. We had to look for our server to request the check. What would you tell your child when he asked why no one sang to him? We normally tip generously, as we understand how difficult times are currently, but a tip was certainly not earned. I did tip but was not as generous as I’d have been had the service been acceptable. “Treat others how you want to be treated.” A...
