Bulldogger's BBQ — Restaurant in Valentine

We come from a place where BBQ is so important that we haul "PDQ Cookers" and 15-foot homemade BBQ grills behind our trucks to parties like other places haul boats and campers. We have tried so many BBQ places nationwide and been disappointed. But Bulldogger's is the best in Cherry County, even the entire North Central Nebraska area, bar none. The brisket falls apart. The potato salad is not glopped together in a solid mayo mass, but made with real potatoes, bits of celery, etc with a light dressing. The 3 BBQ sauces are not dumped on or cooked in, but are in gallon jugs for you to partake; sweet, spicy, and Carolina Gold. The brisket and potato salad were peppery; but that should not give you pause. Although with the current heat wave outside I might have preferred an air-conditioned room, or maybe plates instead of the naked BBQ slices on brown paper on the tray, dining and sharing at the tables and chairs in the shade of the breezeway was pleasant. All in all, a great BBQ experience. Highly recommend, especially for BBQ...

Stopped in from South Dakota to visit family and the River. Tried getting into another local restaurant and didn’t want to wait on the list. Checked out Bulldoggers and glad we did! Absolute excellent array of meats down to the home-made sauces. Had the brisket melty boy with some Cole slaw. They ain’t lying when they say it’s the best “grilled cheese” you could have. We had a party of 6 and everyone was happy. Even on a hot day, you can sit at the covered tables and be comfortable. They have yard games outside to play while you wait even though the wait isn’t long. Owners are very friendly and accommodating. We apparently got our food shortly before they closed and they came out to check on us to see if we needed anything else. Asked if we needed the restroom before closing. Just all around great people, great food, great service. I imagine the locals love this place and its owners, so if you’re passing through, this place deserves a visit and will not disappoint! Holy cow, this place was AMAZING. We travel all over for work and have had our fair share of amazing craft BBQ in Texas and this hidden gem is definitely in our top 2. Love that this is a veteran-owned business as a veteran myself and they offer a very generous discount. The brisket was so delicious and the sides were just as good, especially the Mac & cheese and pickles. We have been telling all of our other storm chaser friends about this BBQ joint. We Loved sitting outside and listening to the good tunes they were playing. A young man was very hard at work keeping the seating area clean and tidy. I can’t wait to come back to Valentine...
