Hopulent — Restaurant in Vallejo

My husband and I came here without knowing much. We saw beer and 4.9 star review on google so we hopped in the car - I’m so glad we did! As soon as we entered we were greeted by the owner (we assume, she had that vibe!) and given a rundown of the options for food and beer. We ordered at the counter and headed out back to a great porch area with seating, heat lamps, and greenery! We sipped on delicious beer while we waited for our food to come out while we listened to an amazing eurodance soundtrack over the speakers. The vibe was so chill and cool, and there were clearly regulars present!

Overall the beer was a knock out with so many amazing local options, everyone will be satisfied. We also loved love loved the food. It’s like bar food but even better. We saw the open sign last weekend and decided to check out this new place we had been hearing about. While I placed our food order (a bahn mi sandwich and the Classic Mac & Cheese with jalapeños and bacon!), my husband ran back home to pick up our growler. (Right now, beer on tap is BYOG, and food and beer are take-out only.) They have an impressive selection craft beers on tap, as well as cider and kombucha. The food was delicious! We am now eagerly looking forward to the time when we can enjoy our food and drink sitting out back in their cozy patio/garden area. David and Kat (a brother and sister team) are truly delightful people and it is quite obvious that Hopulent is a labor of love for them. Let’s help keep them in Vallejo! We can’t wait until Thursday night when Hopulent is open again. Their food is made with love and their beer is poured with Kat’s knowledge and attention to detail. Where else are you going to find delicious Mac-n-cheese and sumptuous ribs to go with a perfect beer?

They have a dozen draft and oodles of cans of beers. Looking for something else? They provide a clever collection of kombucha, sours and other tasty drinks.

The food is handmade with Dave’s famous burgers featured Thursday-only and we don’t miss that night for sure. A half pound beef, beef/pork mix or waygu beef is featured each week and is always a yummy surprise.
